my mom has a google account so I figured I'd try that "Find my Phone" thing I've heard about


it requires you to log in to your google email at a different machine so it can find the phone's current location


so then when you do that, the google services recognize that the account has never been logged in at that machine before

so before it lets you in, it wants a verification


by fucking wanting to text or call your phone


Now, I'm not technology savvy

but what the FUCK is that?

I can't change the option into anything else. Its Text, call, or "tap" the phone



I need to have the phone to find the phone

That phone verification thing is always freaking annoying. I go somewhere else, and want to check my e-mail? Nope, gotta log in through the phone first.

Every day i'm helping people who have no computer or mobile phone skills whatsover. In your particular situation the best bet unfortunately is just too call google which is a terrible process

I called and got the run around with the machines first and it actually hung up on me


at least according to the lady that I talked to, there isn't really a gmail division, so all she could do is troubleshoot

and the troubleshooting was either sending a text to my phone or downloading an app on the lost phone

Actually you don't have to set it up location tracking beforehand, but you do have to actually use your google account to begin with

Like my phone is linked with my gmail, so I never needed to verify my account before but I never did set up location tracking. I did eventually find about the location tracker so I checked it out and all my location history was mapped out, thought it was pretty neat!

Unfortunately though since I switched my SIM in Japan it hasn't been tracking me anymore...



I did however track my dad's lost phone with this before! He couldn't find his phone, I looked it up, tracked it to his school. He drove over there and found it outside somewhere.

I have a lot of people who got rid of their old phones and have never logged onto an actual computer and have no idea they even had a username or password. It's all those short puzzle things
