I was having a minor freakout and tearing up my apartment. Turns out I just left it in my pants pocket from yesterday. *phew* My reaction was like:
>OMG ITS GONE!!!
>Wait, that means I get to go shopping at LV now...hooray! >__>;;

Fun story: So I originally bought it ~4 years ago at their location on 5th ave in NYC. After making the purchase, I had them hotstamp my initials inside in gold leaf, so they told me to come back in a few hours. When I returned, they sent me to the top floor which was just a really posh waiting room. It was me and ~5 other douchebags waiting to get our stuff, and 1 by 1 this old lady would come out with our items and ensure they were customized to our satisfaction (I actually felt cheap. The other people in there were receiving $5k+ items). When she got to me, she removed the wallet from the box, removed the dust jacket, and folded it open so I could look inside. She said in a super hushed, almost reverent voice: "...it is so beautiful."
I was like: "............................................um, yeah! Thanks!"

That is a problem that some nouveau riche have (though most have the exact opposite). Once they come into money, they keep spending like they are poor. Luxury items offer a diminishing return. You pay large amounts for proportionally small increases in quality. That said, when you have a lot of extra money, each dollar is less valuable to you and it makes sense to pay for that small increase in quality.

I wouldnt call it tacky, but it is definitely excessively ostentatious and really douchey. I originally wanted the damier graphite, but they didnt have it in the style of wallet I wanted.

I guess I could see myself buying a few of their products down the line. Definitely nothing in monogram as I think it's obnoxious and exessive.

You can't have people making minimum wage manning their stores, because at that point care and attention to their craft would suffer. But I also doubt these people are rich enough to afford the products they sell at LV boutiques, unless they got "freebies" every now and again to show off the product at work on their person.

also they dont make minimum wage, they make quite a bit over that.

For example, normal store staff make (or used to make) £6/hr as minimum, but premium store staff (upmarket supermarkets like Waitrose) at entry level used to be on £9/hr.

So it wouldn't be enough to compete with legit salaried jobs like bankers, doctors, lawyers, engineers etc. But still way more than min wage

Looking up on glassdoor(no idea if this is a good site) regular associates make around 18 bucks an hour.

Thats pretty decent. I figured as far as retail goes a place like LV would pay well above regular wages for this kinda thing.
