For the gum question, are you thinking about that (not tournament legal) Magic card Fat Ass?

Mark Rosewater ruled that gum didn't count as food for that card because otherwise it would be too easy to keep Fat Ass big by chewing one piece of gum. I would instead say that if candy counts as food, you could keep Fat Ass big while chewing gum until all the sugar got sucked out of it, although it would be pretty hard to tell when that happened. I think the gum base of gum is essentially rubber, so it doesn't count as food to me.

I have never, in my entire life, looked at an unhinged card and said, "I wonder about...".
I don't really like unhinged or unglued.

Since it's normally spit out and not consumed, I'd say no, to gum being food.
