Gamestop makes the most money off of selling used games. The online pass discourages you from buying the used game because it wouldn't have the pass. So the practice discouraged people from buying used which hurt gamestop. Yet those same games were partnered with gamestop to provide exclusive DLC when you pre-ordered.
