He has a lot of HP. I generally use Omnislash. It has the advantage of killing him in one hit while taking long enough to charge up that you can enjoy the fight.

So do I. I need to go through FF7 and FF6 without ultima and knight of the round just to see how harder the fights would be.

Neither game is that hard, barring one or two fights. And a little grinding will get you past those.

Though I do make a point to gain a few levels before the first boss of 7, just because it doesn't take long to grind a few at that point and it sets you up to be a little ahead of the game for pretty good while.

Yeah I always liked how you can get cre as ting with the battle system like that.

One time I was determined to take down Emerald without KotR and came up with a setup where I could cast 24 spells per turn by putting two master magic materia on one character, linking one with quadra magic and the other with all, then casting reflect-all on myself and using W magic.

I can't remember if it worked but I ended up getting stomped anyway, lol.

I just spammed limit breaks and high level magic/summons. Never bothered to grab KotR because I never cared for Chocobo raising. Think my strongest summon was Neo Bahamut. >_>

For some reason if I like halfway miss a key, it'll put in spaces around its best guess at a full word that I probably meant.

Don't have an explanation for the ing at the end. But GameFAQs ads make the site unusable with javascript enabled, and editing is impossible without javascript, so I only edit if it's of utmost importance.

Lol you don't need a lot of "stategy" to beat the final boss. It's rather easy. Just have everyone equipped with a ribbon at the very least.

That's what I meant. Use Ribbons to become immune to his annoying status effects, and then use Wall and Haste for pwnage.

But what others have suggested (like Cid and his Ultimate Weapon and 4X Cut) sound great, too.

You can have some really sick materia set-ups by the end of the game. :)

Quadra Magic + Bahumet Zero (depending on it's level) can max out at 9999 x 4
Quadra Magic + Ultima

And while Big Guard doesn't last as long, it gives you magic/physical barrier plus haste, for a less HP. And it's an easy Enemy Skill to acquire.

my first playthrough was without a guide and i didnt had knights of the round


i did take advantage of regen not sure if bug or intended if you cast regen and your hp hits the max youll heall fast if you take dammage

hp is at 8000 cast regen then take damage for 5000 ....youll heall all that back in a sec thx to regen

My first time through FFVII was pretty barebones. Didn't have access to the internet, so I was playing blind the whole way.

Went through the final dungeon without even realizing that it was the point of no return and that I could have left before I started.

Party was Cloud, Cid, and Vincent. Vincent used his second level limit break, Cid had his level 4, but Cloud only had level 3.

Highest summon was Space Bahamut, followed by Neo. From there it was Cloud using Flare and Cid just attacking iirc. Wasn't too hard, and I beat it on the first go.

Ohh good one. Forgot about that. God damn I was tired of seeing Bahumet Zero by the time I beat Ruby Weapon.

The Materia system in FF7 was such a cool system with a lot of neat combinations that rewarded creativity.

The problem is it takes so much AP to level up Materia and the game is so easy you could go through the whole thing and never really take advantage of it.

^Yeah you can pretty much play the game on pace and never get a majority of materia anywhere near maxed out unless you just stick with the same ones through out the game. Though to be honest, Enemy Skill (x4) is really the first game breaker as far as needing to level up materia. If you just want to finish the game, sans side quests, you can pretty well do it without farming for AP.

I wish I hadn't lost my save file. I want to go back and fight the weapons but I don't want to go through the whole game again and go to the bother of unlocking omnislash and knights of the round.

I'm at that point myself atm and now giving it a break cause the gold saucer is more bad graphicals then I remember it being in 1999 so I'm playing earthbound now , up to the shy people village
