My family is in town, and they are basically raging alcoholics.

I pretty much only drink at events like baseball games or karaoke, and even if I didn't, I'm on a diet, so I didn't partake.

I was quickly reminded that like every word out of a drunk person's mouth is really annoying.

I think it depends a lot on the person who's getting drunk.

I've been around the most annoying people on earth, being related to some of them, and I've been around people I'm pretty okay with.

I think the louder the person is when sober the worse they are drunk, generally. Quiet people who get drunk I've usually been okay with, even while being sober myself. But of course this is just my experience, and I'm someone who gets drunk often enough myself so I'm probably less judgmental than some people.

I've definitely been in situations where I felt that way but generally it means they are people I don't like being around sober. I'm not much different drunk, just with slightly less of a filter. Most people are the same.

There are plenty of people that its entertaining to be around them when they are drunk. Their usual mannerisms and such get exaggerated to comedic effect.

Then there are people that are bad drunks/alcoholics and those are awful.

As someone who is basically an alcoholic, I can attest that I hate being around drunk people when I'm sober. Though, in my case, it's basically jealousy :)
