I can't believe it's 2017 and this isn't standard. For as big and complicated as some games have gotten now, that seems like such a small thing in comparison that can't possibly be very difficult to program into the game. It really comes off as lazy.


The only valid argument I could see against it is that developers work hard on making an ideal control scheme, and they don't want players to go and fuck around with it, and especially not to set their own controls that make the game so unplayable that they think it's the game's problem. But there aren't really that many players who are that stupid, are there? And haven't PC games already been pretty good at making everything customizable (admittedly I don't play very many so I don't know for sure)?

On PS4 you can change the controls for any game as far as I'm aware but I can't say I've used that setting. I know you're taking about having the option built into the game though.

Huh, I didn't know about that. Admittedly I mostly just play things on Nintendo consoles and they're kind of notorious for having bad control customization, but I have a fair amount of 360 games and even many of those don't offer full customization. I know that's a generation back but it's still recent enough for me to not feel like it's an unreasonable expectation.

Because everybody who wants a fully customisable experince already has a PC.
