He is a doctor in the sense he has a PhD in psychology. He isn't, however, a psychiatrist or even a psychologist in the sense that he isn't licensed. Nor is what he does on his show even really psychological therapy. Granted, it is entertainment. Which technically means what he does is illegal. He cannot legally prescribe treatments for people (which he often does).
