I'm looking for wireless headphones to use at the gym since I dislike earbuds. Most of the other brands I've seen don't really make wireless headphones for working out, plus they have like a 40hr battery life and pair well with my iphone 7.

but is the sound quality THAT bad or is that just the internet circlejerking?

probably sweat resistant, a tight fit for working out or running, just overall the design i guess. right now i'm wearing audio technica studio monitors and even if they were wireless, i cant imagine moving with them on.

They're like what Alienware is to PCs. They're not necessarily bad, but you're paying for the name more than you are the quality product. Better off buying something similarly priced or even less from a different company that isn't known for fucking around or putting image and brand over the product itself.

Not sure why, but I bought the latest iteration of the earbuds, but the left one never fails to fall out when I turn my head around or move too much. I probably should test it out by myself sometime to see the issue. It's always a pain working out then having it fall out mid set

They're pretty good but like others have stared at retail price you can probably get better quality headphones. However for casual use they're perfect. When others refer to better quality, unless you are trying to mix or use them for audio recording, you will not notice a difference.

You also have Apple's customer care which is by far the best service I've ever experienced.

If you're looking at headphones for a gym, studio quality headphones should not really be at the top of your list of requirements.

With that out of the way: The issue with Beats isn't that they're bad, it's that they're overpriced to hell.

Beats are considered a ripoff because they really just use a digital mixer to pump up the bass to make it sound better. A digital mixer should cost like $20 but Beats charge $200 because they're a fashion statement. There are lots of headphones that sound as good, if not better, for equal or even less money.

http://www.digitalmusicnews.com/2015/07/28/if-you-read-this-review-and-still-buy-beats-headphones-youre-an-idiot/

tl:dr: beats are a fashion accessory. if you want real headphones that sound good, they are not for you.

DTS 7.1 is always compressed audio. Uncompressed audio is analog and when made digital is called PCM "Pulse-code modulation". Very rarely are you getting 7.1 anywhere in pure analog so by rule of thumb 7.1 streams will generally be compressed, especially in modern times in the age of streaming. That being said, analog or digital has nothing to do with whether it utilizes 7.1 channels. Anyways, I usually don't use it in 7.1 mode anyways, I am generally wearing them listening to music on my phone or playing PC or XBOX. 7.1 is not bad on PC though so not sure why you're angry. I've owned dozens of pairs of high dollar headphones by the way.

Some people are weird about headphones. I use Skull Candy Smokin Buds, and everyone tells me they are crap. But I spent like 40-60 on every pair I've owned, and they last me a year or so barring accidental damage. They are far better than the standard $20 iPod/generic headphones. I mean, you have to adjust your expectations based on what you are buying.

Some of the turtle beaches get up to 500 dollars (mine were only like 120). I usually have at least 1 pair of wireless and wired at a time and then you have to think how the PS3 ones I had were 7.1 and specifically for the PS3, then I had my wired ones for my phone and mp3 players (and cd player way back when). Why do you own one pair of headphones at a time?

That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Wireless headphones are shittier than wired headphones when you want a pair with heavy bass because with USB headphones you can get more power. They sacrifice this with wireless ones for longevity off the charger. Furthermore I have had cats before so I had to get wireless ones, but I prefer the power of wired and I also don't have to deal with interference or the sound occasionally cutting out.

Then you want wireless ones for various things, like working around the house. Again, wired ones I prefer because they can be louder and not as annoying.

You literally know fuckall about headphones.

None of these arguments pertain to me. I work as a sound engineer for one of the largest Horse racing tracks in the country and have used the same pair of headphones for personal use for half a decade.

Keep ranting about $100 "high quality" headsets.

Just because you don't need more than one pair for your needs doesn't mean there is no reason to need more than one pair. It also tells me you have less experience with different headphone experiences than I do and that can be drawn through inference.

Yes, you made a baseless claim about someone you don't really know using logic pulled from your ass. You also then claimed that there is no reason to own more than one pair, a claim which I then refuted by providing reasons to own more than one pair. Wireless vs. Wired itself is a reason to at least own two at any given time.

It's called context. I was talking about quality pairs and have never talked about anything other. Just because you have been wearing the same pair of headphones for 5 years and are delusional doesn't mean other people don't need to have multiple pairs of QUALITY headphones for wired, wireless, 7.1, and monitors for music production. That's reason to have 3 or 4 QUALITY pairs at a time itself.
