I thought about doing it awhile ago but now I've actually gone ahead and started contacting some trainers. I'm not the most in shape guy but I'm still pretty ripped af. I think if I give it a serious shot and push hard I could be up into the UFC in 2 years or less.

Wish me luck!

I did MMA for a few years, specializing in muaythai/taekwondo. I did a few fight shows at gyms in my area, ended up with like a 2-4 record. My problem was that I wouldn't last long. I'd psych myself out and go all-in during the first round, and end up winded later on. The two wins I had, I got from employing that kind of shit successfully, usually via a really nice flying roundhouse to the head.

Anyway, it was really fun. There was a time where I was training at the gym practicing combos over and over on the bag, and then I stopped for a second and I had a moment where I was like "Whoa... dude, this is just real-life Street Fighter..."

Also depending on how serious the shows you're in are about wearing protection, the best part about MMA at an amateur level is that getting beat doesn't even hurt that much. Worst I got was a black eye in one fight, but for the most part you don't have to worry about getting really hurt.

You probably need a minimum of four years doing dedicated MMA training almost daily with a good coach to just be somewhat decent at it. On second thought, you probably need six years since you might be mentally unstable and you haven't mentioned anything about the training you need to do.

Thanks for the actual advice, man. Your 2-4 record isn't that bad. I'm hoping to be like the Undertaker of MMA though and go like 21-0 haha.

I plan on wearing protection while training. If I end up getting into it, I'm going to make training vignettes and stuff and putting them on Youtube to try to create a buzz.

Your words over the internet, behind your semen-stained screen, on a crusty keyboard, struck hard. I'm terrified of you.
You're right. With absolutely no experience in the sport, unconditioned, and used to a sedentary lifestyle on your video game websites, you'll dominate a sport where people have spent most of their lives dedicated to training in it.

I'm not going to entertain your tough guy front.

Go to your local MMA gym. I'm fairly confident almost anyone there can prove to you that you ain't shit.

I actually trained BJJ for two years, and we had the guys who had just watched Warrior come in and think they're the real deal, only to get shut down. I was also that guy when I first started, thinking I'm going to be the exception to the rule and just physically dominate everyone in there. The good thing was that we realize how little we know and were encouraged to join the gym and actually learn. And most of us became close friends and laughed about our expectations vs reality when starting in the sport.

But you're going to be the Undertaker of the sport. Just go in, challenge the first black belt you see, execute a perfect flying armbar, sign your UFC contract on your way to the car, and then go home and fuck bitches.

Willpower ain't shit without the tools to back it up. I mean, good luck and all, but unless you possess natural abilities you're going to get your ass kicked a lot and probably won't make it to the UFC.

Willpower isn't anything compared to skill and technique, you're gonna get murdered if you have that mindset. You need to be willing to learn the fundementals and train diligently before you start developing your fighting style and tweak it to your liking
