Nah. I recently found out my dad was a donor for my mom's sister in law. Her husband, my moms blood brother, was unable to produce good sperm so my dad did. I don't think it's weird.

Oh, that arguably makes it less creepy because then his genes wouldn't be in her.

The kid would also look nothing like you.

TC would be using his sperm. That's the entire point of using TC's genetic makeup and the closest genetic makeup of his partner: the partner's sister.

Yes, yes it is. Not only will he be a Dad and Uncle to the kid but he would be asking his own sister to give up her baby for him for cash. That could cause a lot of strain between their relationship. Whatever way you look at it though you'll never be the Dad to the kid so what's the point in involving his family members in the situation. The kid would also look nothing like you.

What. No, she'd take my sperm. The kid would be mine regardless. We're both men so we can't have a kid with our genetic makeup naturally. The only thing you got right here was the dad/uncle thing.

Ok what again. If she decided to be a surrogate, she'd know the baby would be ours and she'd be able to visit etc. She'd also be compensated and present throughout the childs life should she choose.

No kwimkwam you'd obviously knock her up without her knowing it and she wouldn't know for 9 months that she's growing an embryo and fetus and then you'd sneak that infant right out of there.

It's really not weird at all. Plenty of women who are unable to conceive have had their sister be their surrogate. It seems like a fantastic idea to me. Maybe he's just not very close to his sister. That's really the only reason I could think of that he'd be weirded out about it.

The baby would be yours and his sisters yes. Visiting her child could cause a lot of emotions for her and be even harder for her as she gave up her baby. Not sure what you're not understanding here.

IAmNowGone posted...

That just makes my point even more valid. Clearly she could choose to not keep in contact with the kid she gave up but that would be at the risk of also not keeping in contact with her brother. If she decided to keep in contact then refer to the above. It's not a good idea at all.

She would literally act as the child's aunt and would be there throughout its life. You're inferring potential emotions of how a surrogate could react as if that is how she would react. This isn't a new situation in the broad scheme of things.

They're close. He's too fixated on the dad/uncle thing. He thinks it'll mess up the kid. He thinks having two dads is enough but id say a kid with a random woman we dont care about would mess the kid up even more. Tis a shame.

Certainly. It's a hypothetical situation within a hypothetical situation but it's still a possibility if you went down that road. Of course she could be ok with it all and everything could go smoothly but from my dad gfs experience of trying to have kids things don't always work out as planned. She asked her sister who refused and she ended up adopting in the end. Sure that's not everyone's stories but when you can't have kids naturally their isn't a easy road to go down.

I'm not sure you should gamble on it not affecting the kid, especially because he will catch hell from his peers for it and, to be brutally honest, he'll likely have adjustment issues from just having two fathers because our society is still getting used to that paradigm (by which I mean it's very likely he'll experience greater-than-average bullying). More importantly, unless you really care about your genes, it would make sense to just adopt since there tens of thousands of kids who need good homes. This way you can avoid potentially awkward family dinners.

That said, have you broached the idea with the sister yet? If the boyfriend says no but she's okay with it, maybe you can both win him over. If both of them are saying no, you really shouldn't push it. (Also you call him a boyfriend in the title and a fiance in the post. Any reason? )

Yes. We will sit down and take notes. You can teach us being as you're such a expert.

If you take the sister's egg and tc's sperm you would be able to implant both into any surrogate and create a baby.
It might take several tries.
This would create a baby with both of their genetic make-up.

From the phrasing, it sounded like he wanted her to do more than provide the egg. Usually when I hear a woman referred to as a surrogate, it means she's the one actually carrying the child.
