It wasn't half bad, I liked it well enough. Was in my backlog for 6 years and yesterday I just decided let's watch it.

I loved the whole movie but I remember the cat, and only the cat, looked like ass.

He wasn't in it that much... but why do you think that? Is it because of the triangular face?

"Other" mother was creepy, I wonder what the deal with her was. I could see myself or at least other kids be terrified of this movie during some scenes, definitely one of the scarier movies for kids to watch. Definitely.

Great movie, love it.

It's pretty much a good horror movie for kids.

I like the first half but the second half just devolves. It's like she goes through a list of boss fights or something, just goes downhill.

I'm pretty sure Coraline wasn't Tim Burton..

Wasn't it Laika? Check out Kubo and The Two Strings as well.

It was Henry Selick. AKA the guy who did Nightmare before Christmas lol.

NBC was just Tim Burton's concept/ideas.

Yeah I'm gonna give poster #6 a pass because in his defense, burton actually wanted to do nightmare before christmas but was just too busy with batman returns and ed wood and stuff.

Huh that's a funny weird coincidence, I actually watched kubo just last week and remade a topic about it twice on ce (but as per usual no one posted in it)

I wonder if seeing it subconsciously made me want to check out their first movie, which I've had since forever. Like Coraline I enjoyed it, they just make fun movies you know. Have some sweet parts, some really unique and interesting combinations of animation and stop motion, just all around good quality.

I think I've seen paranorman as well or at least own it, but can't remember it right now.

I admire Laika films to doing stop motion, but it's becoming a dead genre. 3-D animation will always appeal to the general audience because they tend to be more eye appealing. But anyways I enjoyed Coraline a lot, it was creepy and had a lot of amazing visual styles. Pretty unique film all around.

I made a Kubo topic when the movie got released and only had like 2 people reply to it. Then I made a topic about sausage party and had like 3 pages of comments saying how the movie was either funny or not. Goes to show that most people will watch 3-D animation over stop motion sadly.

I remember when that film first came out, there was outrage from conservatives on CE and angry soccer mom on the IMDB boards because it had a "gay joke" in it. I mean never mind the fact that it had Norman's dead uncle stick out his tongue on Norman or the other gruesome scenes in the film, they mostly targeted it as a gay propaganda film because of that one joke.

I know 2d animation is a dead genre (unfortunately) but stop motion never even had the time of day to be considered alive and then dead. It was only ever tim burton and henry selik from what I remember that really got into those movies back in the 90s, like only a couple, and I can barely remember any from the 2000s besides... maybe wallace and gromit? oh and fantastic mr fox

Stop motion is so difficult to do, I'll never forget the parks and rec episode about it with ben.
