Cell phone started making weird noises with a bizarre-looking message on the screen. First time I've seen one of these, kinda meh.

Given that it's nearly 3am, not sure what they expect people like me to do about it since it's not like I'm going to be out on the road or anything considering that the state basically closes down around 11. Case is apparently a father kidnapping his daughter and, given the custody arrangements in this country which disproportionately hurt men and black men in particular, it might be the only way that he could see his daughter.

Which is hilariously wrong guess, but people have accused me of being in that age range for the past 15-16 years that I've been using Gamefaqs.

Plus they don't need me, they need Harriet Tubman to spirit them to safety.

The point is that when you do eventually leave your house, and the case isn't resolved yet, you'll at least be aware that there's a kidnapped child that's out there.

I almost forgot. Here in Minnesota there was an Amber Alert and this person looked out their window and saw the guy who had kidnapped the kid pulled into the house right across the street so they called the police.

So you don't even need to leave the house to possibly help an abducted kid.

Eh, given that the notice suggested they were headed for NYC (which takes less than 3 hours from where it happened), it's not terribly likely but sure, I guess. In my case, I can't really recognize car makes so I wouldn't be much help if I was so inclined to help.

There's a pretty significant difference between parental kidnapping and some dude snatching a kid up off the street.

are you really advocating kidnapping though?

there's a difference between a father/mother doing it, or a predator doing it, i'll concede that point, sure.

but often times there's a reason why the father/mother isn't allowed to see their kid often or at all, and no reason like that justifies kidnapping.

If the mother was abusing the child and the courts weren't intervening (which happens more often than you'd care to admit), that would be one completely justified reason for a parent to retrieve their child for the child's safety. Keep in mind that legal guardians have not only physically abused the children in their care, but at times pimped out children -- often as young as 10 or 11 -- for sex with far older men.

While parental kidnapping isn't always justified, the courts frequently place children in dangerous situations. However, if you're talking about the courts just screwing over a guy -- which they frequently do because courts favor women in almost everything -- I'm not sure if I can necessarily fault them for self-help. It's not a good way to do things but sometimes it's the only option especially if the mother's family has a lawyer while the dad can't afford representation.

But am I encouraging civil disobedience to right a court-sanctioned wrong? I wouldn't go that far. I'm more of a lawful neutral guy than a neutral good.
