I caved and got one. People were telling me about how I shouldn't be playing Zelda with the Joy Con grips compared to the Pro Controller and that the Pro Controller is much more comfortable. But after playing an hour with it in Zelda and Splatoon (each), I just don't get it. The only thing I really like about it is that the control sticks allow you to move the stick farther, which helps with precise movement I guess.

Am I missing something here? I'm considering returning it.

I don't think there's a "deal" with it, it's just shaped less awkwardly than the joycon thing so it's nice.

I love the pro controller. The joycons, aside from being too small for my meaty paws, just aren't great. I don't like the lack of d-pad and I don't like that the sticks are like, half-height. they're weird, they seem like they're stiff and don't offer a full rotation. pro controller sticks feel much better.

but no, whoever told you that playing zelda with the joy con grips is wrong is stupid and i've not seen a single person say that. they're fine for most people, great for some and terrible for very few (though i'm part of that). the pro controller is unquestionably better but there's nothing definitive about it.

I don't like the joycon grip, I prefer them just separated. Makes all the gyro controls a lot better too, since then you can really easily do everything with just the right joycon, then it works better than wiimotion+ did.
