obviously 5th to 6th generation. Hell some PS2 games still to me look great. Of course i hate almost all gaming since 2007 so i dont play much modern stuff outside of steam games, but whatever.

The first one by a light year. The HD-jump was also significant, but much of that was just because of HD, which is clear when we see how good HD re-releases of classic PS2 games look.

No NES -> SNES option? Of these options it's obviously PS1 era -> PS2 era imo.

I love me some classic PS1 era games, but the ones that are 3D focused are always a jumble of polygons. They worked hard in those years making the transition less awkward, but it took time. PS2 was a solid milestone that allowed 3D to be much better realized both in looks and performance. While there's been improvements since, it feels more like iteration rather than huge leaps forward.

8-bit to 16-bit easily trumps any of those. I would say the move from Atari to NES (and the equilvalent progression on DOS computers) was at least as big.

The PS2 is the dawn of modern gaming. Like you can look at a PS2 game like Sly Cooper or Medal of Honor and see logically how that got to the games we have now.

You look at a PS1 game and it looks like it was made by aliens who have no perception of what reality looks like.

SNES/Genesis era to PS1/N64/Saturn/Dreamcast

We are never gonna see a jump in graphics quality like that ever again.

Yeah we're never gonna see a huge jump backwards again.

Early 3D consoles are like first- and second-generation consoles, so hard to go back to.

PS2 is definitely the era when art styles were able to fully express themselves without obviously being limited by hardware. Made for some really nice looking games that went beyond just more polygons and higher resolution.
