I saw your lag in your second match with davidponte, both your pings spiked in that one for some reason.

The stability patch that just dropped on Steam and will soon drop on PS4 should help with random ping spiked

Yeah I've had a bunch of lag as well. I don't thinks it's changed the outcome of any matches but I have lost a couple points because of it.

If it helps, from my "expert" opinion, I'd judge Haruka to be the character who is most difficult to use. She throws a lot slower than the rest but her speed is deadly. You have the right idea trying to play the net like you do. Just, you know, do it better haha.

I should have won several of those. But i seem to be missing something fundamental because i keep throwing it right to you in crucial moments setting you up for easy perfect returns. Like i feel like im following the games much better both mentally and with my eyes but I keep choking with failure inputs when it matters most.

I was convinced you had won at least 2 of those games, FD.

I read somewhere earlier today that Haruka's slide is pretty bad, and that you should be able to catch up to most throws just by running.

I'm not sure if that's actually the case, but it might be the reason why you're having trouble getting to some of those lobs.

Yeah I feel like you are getting to my lobs no matter how hard I set them up and if I so much as twitch wrong you get 100% free points with yours. I think im getting better at recognizing when you wont be in position for a perfect return though so I can take a more aggressive position.

My internet is seemingly acting up today, it keeps cutting out for a few seconds every 20 minutes or so, and I was lagging hard in Rocket League earlier, so I'm not going to make an attempt at playing this tonight.

I did notice a patch this morning, though. Hopefully that helps some of the stability issues we were having.

It seemed aimed at matchmaking rather than net code but we can hope.

I got the trophy for finishing a match with a super earlier so all i need now is win 50 games. I never lose to not-b8 so i should be nearly there.

When I was going for the 50 wins, it felt like rematches didn't count towards the total because I could have sworn I had much more than 50 wins by the time I actually got it.

I uploaded a video of what I'd consider to be "high level" Disc Jam play. Played a few hours on PC today and ran into this guy twice, and both times I clicked to save the match at the end of it and when I went to piece them together I realized it was the same dude in both matches.

I've got really mixed feelings about this game.

I'm probably a mid-range player (I'm good at the timing and win like 2/3 of my matches, but I'm not good at pulling off complicated moves)

The wait times for matchmaking are ridiculous. I've never been able to do a 2v2 because getting four people in a match just never seems to happen. Even singles take so long that I pretty much instantly hit rematch every game just so that I don't have to wait for matchmaking again.

Mechanically the game's sound but there's not much going for it beyond that. The prizes don't really feel rewarding (I received duplicate tags with my first four draws, and even my better draws weren't particularly impressive rewards).

The game could really benefit from some different stages, as looking at the same one each time makes this feel like a demo rather than the full game. And by god does the game need more music than just the menu song and the match song. The music was ok for a while but now when I hear it it's just frustrating because it's so repetitive.

I've never had to wait longer than two minutes since the game properly launched, and have played maybe 20 doubles matches today alone.

As for your other stuff about more content -- I agree. It needs it a lot. It sounds like they always wanted to go the Rocket League route and be free on PS+, but there was only one slot to get their game in and they had to bump up the release date by a pretty significant amount.

That said, to compare to, say, Rocket League, when I play that game I'm playing the same mode with the same cars on the (functionally) same maps so I'm not being too harsh with Disc Jam. I hope, like Windjammers, they mix it up with different sized courts and get more customization options in there.

Huh? They had a couple server issues on PS4 but they've been patched, and even then it wasn't even remotely "busted'

The quality of player is much higher on PC, since the beta ran there for a couple months whereas it only had like two weeks on PS4. So I've been getting some real good matches there. I'm finding some good doubles matches on PS4 though, may wanna try those.

I was playing with my friend a couple days ago, and one or both of us would have to quit and restart the game after every match- we'd get disconnected from online, then be unable to reconnect

After every game it would show all other players as having quit, and rematches were not available. There are a bunch of little things like that that aren't working properly

Didn't have many issues with lag myself, as others in the topic have mentioned

Yeah, this sounds like something on your end. I have nearly 100 hours into this game and experienced the thing you're talking about for a brief 1-2 hour period prior to it being patched on PS4 and never again.

As far as game quality, my biggest thing so far is a lack of a rank system, not really much fun when you get a bunch of scrubs in a row. BUt I haven't had trouble finding matches so far. And I wouldn't worry about content since the little blurb on the main menu says to expect new maps, characters, etc. I'm not concerned.

Edit: Also the thing that happens periodically where a match starts and the disc is frozen for a good 30 seconds. Happened in the beta too, thought it would have been fixed.

This only happens to me when I play with you anymore. I still think you might have DNS issues. Or IDK. But it's 100% a ping issue and for some reason your ping is always high at the start of matches. Your ping spikes at the start of rocket league matches too, it just settles down faster

This also happened to me for about a day. After every match id have to press reconnect like 7 times until it actually reconnected. But as digi says it seems to have been resolved.

yeah, i gave it another shot the other day and it was fine

i also am slowly gaining competency over the slicing throws, although i feel like about a third of players just instantly quit if you bounce the disc against the same wall- you know what i mean

The biggest problem I'm having right now is the counterplay with lobs and perfecting my curve throws.

Where I'm at it feels like the only response to catching a lob at the back of the court is to throw a lob to the back of your opponent's court too. If you try to do a real throw they have enough time to crowd the net and get a much better throw off. Maybe I should try something with a lot of slow bounces so I can get better positioning?

Anyone have any thoughts?

If they put you at the back of corner with a lob, you need to get a perfect throw angled directly at the opposite corner -- diagonally -- without it touching the wall either way. There is a chance they can cut it off, but it shouldn't be a death sentence for you by any stretch.
