Wasn’t as much of a fan of the vocals here as I was on the other great metal albums nominated but it was the best instrumentally. And then the way it ended. Truly a beautiful way to end the album which is what pushed it up this high

Now I wish I'd left Nekrogoblikon in, you probably would have hated the vocals but the instrumentals are great.

5. The Myriad - With Arrows, With Poise - Digi

So this was amazing. The vocal work is so good and I also really love the piano. The piano in Polar Bears and Shark Fins in particular is just so f***ing beautiful. And I mean the rest of the instruments are great also but just holy s*** that piano makes me so f***ing happy.

Overall this is just a perfect album for putting on when I want to relax. I was really sad to learn there won’t be more music from them due to the drummer passing away :(

Oh hell yes. Just an explosion of awesome as f*** hard music. It is a wonderful hype album to listen to. And then that beautiful way to end it in a calmer matter with Mouth Of Ghost is just pure genius.

The best part of this album(and all Dilinger Escape Plan) is the vocals. Greg Puciato has such wonderful vocal talents

This is an amazing pop punk album. I love the vocals so much. They have just the right amount of whine in them. And then while the instruments don't really do anything special they are good pop punk style which is more than enough for me to love it.

Is this album perhaps a bit simple and short? Yeah sure... but this is me so I find it beautiful in that simplicity because pop punk is my favorite genre. I am not going to deny that pop punk ends up formulaic in many ways and I am not going to claim that this tries to break them but whatever I love the pop punk formula.

This album is amazingly chill. It is wonderfully relaxing to listen to. Chance's delivery of his lines is just f***ing amazing. The sudden end to Pusha Man and the silence after has a wonderful effect because silence doesn't happen anywhere else. The melodies in it are also just so f***ing good.

Dem rough vocals. I also really like the bits of Swedish? I assume it is Swedish since they are Swedish in it since that language sounds really good on top of the hardcore music.

I think my favorite part of the album is the little moral and political talking messages. I love that they just put those in because they felt they were important.

And yes there is a certain irony in me putting this album at the top right after gushing about how much I love the pop punk formula when New Noise completely points out how the style of punk has been corrupted by the formula existing but... You know what that is part of why this ended up winning. It changed the formulas just enough to be unique while still being familiar and something I love.

I didn't think EA would be your jam but I'm glad you like her. I think Opheliac is her best work. Fight Like A Girl is an album better heard live - it isn't as good on CD without the performance and whatnot.
