Everyone at my LGS despises Standard and we're pretty much the last holdout FNM that runs it.

This set might make our area Modern FNM only.

Inquisition, Path, and Might of Old Krosa at uncommon.

There have been a few duds so far, but even the low-value rares/mythics have been decent reprints. So far this is looking to be a lot closer to MM1 than MM2, which is good.

There's still one spot left in the number crunch for Noble Hierarch and one for Aether Vial. Those are the only things left I want to see reprinted. The suspense is killing me! I feel like I'm asking for too much for an already amazing set, but wizards has clearly gone insane so I'm holding out hope.

Yeah if last MM was anything to go by, the price spikes will be crazy for stuff that missed a reprint. Probably a good idea to buy things you want asap if they arent in. I'm probably gonna bite the bullet on Hierarchs tomorrow if they're out.

Not counting aether vials out just yet since I don't think we know the exact number of hybrid cards, but it's not looking good and it's not really on-theme. They'll probably get crazy high.

So like, what's the consensus on how this is compared to MM1? I know nothing about MM2 but from what you guys say it sounds like 2 was a letdown. Is this the type of thing you can buy and make your money back off of?

Value-wise this is similar, probably slightly better than MM1. Depends on what price you can get stuff for. I think right now the EV of a box is ~$300, but that will drop over the next few months as most of these cards drop in price.

It depends on if you can find it for MSRP, too. I got my MM2 box for a good price and made back my money since I won the Goyf lottery, but I was also drafting it with friends so I wasn't too concerned with the value. This set looks better on value but stores seem to be hiking up the price.

If you want to just crack packs then go for it, but if there are specifics you want then just buy singles a few weeks in.

It wasn't BFZ bad, but it was a complete letdown compared to MM1 and even Standard at the time.

Spell pierce is pretty nice for blue players.

Cyclonic Rift is also a pretty good reprint. Commander demand alone has driven that card up to $10.
