Season 7
Broncos - Selected OT Andre Smith (12th overall) and WR Mike Wallace (24th overall) - Broncos originally owned the 24th pick and acquired the 12th pick when they let RFA SS Lewis Baker sign with the Bills - Smith has played six games (no starts) and has 14 blocks to no sacks allowed. - Wallace had put up a line that you would expect from a #4 WR (23 receptions for 283 yards, 2 TDs) Browns - Selected QB Sam Bradford (18th overall) and OT Ryan Clady (25th overall) - Browns originally owned the 25th pick and acquired the 18th pick from the Steelers in a trade that sent DE Ryan Nece to the Steelers. - Bradford lost most of the season due to injury, but he had a 65% completion percentage and nearly 700 yards through the air. - Clady started all 16 games and finished with a 36-4 block-sack ratio. --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy http://i.imgur.com/VfpY7tg.jpg ... I was actually surprised that Emerald had the Lighting taking Haden as well. I thought they could have gone in any number of directions.
KCF I had you going WR with your first pick since Haden was already taken in my mock and since your slot receiver is a FA next year I didn't know if you wanted to retain him with an established #1 and #2 WR. stuntman, I also had you going receiver since since Smith is getting pretty old and is a FA next year. I didn't know who else you were coveting to move up in the draft to acquire as you were looking for impact players so that's where I went with that pick. Also, it seems I had the wrong talent falling to the Chiefs! I had a Top 15 OT falling to them but instead it was a Top 15 WR. Oh well! I can post my full analysis with my little blurbs later if anyone is interested but I think Emerald is covering most of everything! --- I needed a new sig and DP provided one by winning the Guru ... Well you had all my positions right, even if they were in the wrong order. And I hadn't planned on taking a DT originally as I play 3-4 and forgot how bad my backup was.
I kinda wanted to take Dez at 20 and with how many OT's there were, I probably should have since my WR1 is old and the rest of my WR's are just kinda whatever (although they are young) I almost took a guard at #31 too since my starting guards are 35/36 and although I have backups ready to step in, I;ll need backups to them when my starting guards retire. Guard was a position I wanted to address in the 2 previous drafts but the best prospects that came through were all low rounders. I think best started at round 3 or lower in both drafts. I maybe didn't need a QB either given I drafted one 2nd round last year and could have given him a shot. I probably would have given him a shot if he hadn't stayed static at 79 year on year. If he had gone up to like 81, I would have probably let him start ... Copied to Clipboard!

12. Lions: HB LeGarrette Blount
Emerald's pick: QB Matthew Stafford Stan's pick: QB Matthew Stafford Another eyebrow-raiser, the Chiefs clearly have a need at QB and not HB, or even OT with Todd Wade being 35. This one just doesn't make that much sense, unfortunately. 13. Broncos: WR Golden Tate Emerald's pick: WR Dez Bryant Stan's pick: WR Dez Bryant The Broncos went off the board here, and while they still grabbed a 1st rd graded WR, they didn't grab the top one. Perhaps they see something in Tate? We'll have to see, but on the surface it's a puzzling move. 14. 49ers: OT Trent Williams Emerald's pick: OT Anthony Costanzo Stan's pick: OT Trent Williams We both had the 49ers taking an OT, but I thought Williams would be gone by now which is why I went with Costanzo. The 49ers needed another quality OT to add some depth and take over the reins soon, and they got just that. Good pick. 15. Bears: QB Andrew Luck Emerald's pick: HB LeSean McCoy Stan's pick: HB LeGarrette Blount This is a solid pick. The Bears have only 2 HB and the starter is over 30, but David Carr is even older, so QB was probably the more immediate need. Carr is still rated highly, so they've got time to let Luck develop before making him the starter. 16. Browns: MLB Aaron Curry Emerald's pick: OT Russell Okung Stan's pick: WR Golden Tate The Browns said they were targeting MLB and to be honest, I'm not sure why. Korey Hall is 85 (which is good enough) and under 30, so he can start for quite a few more years. Curry was a reach at this point, not even being listed on the board, and we thought that WR was old, and OT was substandard, so we both thought they needed more love than MLB. I don't like the pick but we'll see if the gamble pays off. 17. Redskins: WR Victor Cruz Emerald's pick: DT Gerald McCoy Stan's pick: DT Gerald McCoy I'm not sure how old the Redskins' WR corps is, but if I had to guess, it's probably old like the rest of their roster. If so, I get this pick. However, they have a single DT on their roster, who is also probably old. I would say that's a more immediate need than WR. I'd give this pick a C grade, as it still fills a need but not the biggest one, and not at the best value either. --- I'm a greener egg than the eggs from dr. seuss ... Copied to Clipboard!

18. Giants: HB Jonathan Stewart
Emerald's pick: HB LeGarrette Blount Stan's pick: HB Jonathan Stewart Another case of me getting the position right but not the player, Edgerrin James is not long for this league, so now's the perfect time to get a future starter. 19. Dolphins: CB Kareem Jackson Emerald's pick: QB Travis Doucette Stan's pick: CB Kareem Jackson My reasoning for QB is that last year, Keller got hurt for most of the season. KCF has 84 Tim Rattay who, while rated alright, is super old, so I thought hey, insurance. Kareem Jackson was a borderline 1st-2nd rd pick, and I didn't have him getting CB Joe Haden though, so I goofed big time by not having the Dolphins reach a tad to get a CB. Good on you, Stan. 20. Steelers: OT Anthony Costanzo Emerald's pick: DT Domata Peko Stan's pick: DT Domata Peko I get this pick, somewhat. Stan and I both thought there was a more immediate need at DT, having only 1 rated 80+, so I think that was the way to go, but they did need a 4th OT anyway, and one of their OTs is 32, so he's approaching potential decline stage. Shattered is playing the long game, here. 21. Vikings: QB Matthew Stafford Emerald's pick: CB Kareem Jackson Stan's pick: HB CJ Spiller Donovan McNabb is old, so a potential QB of the future pick here? Depends on how old Josh Portis is. If he's young, I don't like this pick at all. If he's not, then it's a good pick. 22. Jaguars: OT Russell Okung Emerald's pick: OT Jared Valdheer Stan's pick: DE Michael Johnson Honestly, DE is more of a need here, but I thought Johnson was a reach so I went OT to add some young depth behind their starting OTs. A classic case of Value over Need, I don't think the Jags could have gone wrong either way. --- I'm a greener egg than the eggs from dr. seuss ... Copied to Clipboard!

23. Chiefs: WR Dez Bryant
Emerald's pick: OT Nate Solder Stan's pick: OT Anthony Costanzo The Chiefs still need an OT at some point for the future, but how can you pass up on this insane value? Dez was a top 15 projection, the #2 WR in his class, and the Chiefs get him here at #23? What a robbery. The Chiefs also will need a stud WR after Housh retires, which isn't far off, so it's still a good pick on need alone, but man. You people should be ashamed for letting him fall this far (Looking at you, AI teams) 24. Steelers: DT Gerald McCoy Emerald's pick: WR Golden Tate Stan's pick: OT Russell Okung Remember when I said DT was an immediate need 4 picks ago? The Steelers grabbed the #2 DT at #24, which is a great pick. If they had switched these picks then they would have ended up with Russell Okung, as the Jags went OT in between these picks, so this pick makes both this pick and his previous pick a lot better. Steelers have had a great draft. 25. Rams: QB Brock Osweiler Emerald's pick: HB Jonathan Stewart Stan's pick: HB Knowshon Moreno Come on Rams, you have a single HB, and he's rated 81! I get they probably need a future QB but they didn't even take the best available. 2nd Worst pick of the first round award goes to the rams. 26. Hawks: DE Michael Johnson Emerald's pick: QB RG3 Stan's pick: Travis Doucette ONE QB ON THE ROSTER, RATED 79. ONE QB, RATED 79. Need I say more? Worst pick of the round award goes to the Hawks. Sometimes, crazy is not good. 27. Buccaneers: OT Jared Valdheer Emerald's pick: DE Michael Johnson Stan's pick: OT Jared Valdheer Good pick here, the Bucs OTs are old as dirt, so I whiffed hard on this predix. Solid need, solid value, good long-term thinking here. --- I'm a greener egg than the eggs from dr. seuss ... Copied to Clipboard!

28. Bills: MLB Luke Keuchly
Emerald's pick: QB Andy Dalton Stan's pick: QB RG3 Stan and I both agreed that the Bills needed a QB, and this pick makes extra non-sense to me for 2 reason: 1) Luke was a 2nd rd graded pick, though to his credit, Stevr tried to trade back and got no offers. 2) MLB Thompson is rated 82 and is only 24, so it's not like they needed a youth option at MLB. Probably were better options on the board even if they didn't want to go QB for some reason. 29. Falcons: DT Domata Peko Emerald's pick: OT Cordy Glenn Stan's pick: DT Karl Klugg Stan nailed the positional need, I whiffed super hard on this one too. I thought a 2nd rd DT was a reach here (which is what I had BPA as, since I thought Peko would be gone) but the chance to grab a 1st rd grade near the end of the 1st rd is great value. Great pick by the Falcons here. 30. Wildcats: CB Cortez Allen Emerald's pick: OLB Jason Worilds Stan's pick: OLB Jason Worilds Prof diverted from what we thought was a huge need, but CB is just as huge, I will admit. Either position would have been perfectly understandable here, I think this is a solid pick by the Wildcats. 31. Steelers: QB RG3 Emerald's pick: FS Reshad Jones Stan's pick: QB Andy Dalton Steelers definitely needed a franchise QB, and hopefully they found one at the end of the 1st rd. Another good pick by the Steelers. 32. Cowboys: MLB Danny Trevathan Emerald's pick: MLB Aaron Curry Stan's pick: WR Victor Cruz The Boys have one MLB rostered, and he's in his mid-30s. With MLBs being thin already this year, I don't blame them for reaching back a bit to grab one. --- I'm a greener egg than the eggs from dr. seuss ... Copied to Clipboard!

Might be biased on my end because it was a need for me last 2 years but MLB's seem to have been thin the last 3 drafts. Same as guards being thin last 3 seasons (and I've needed them all 3)
Last year I took a 2nd round MLB and I'm pretty sure it was a reach there. The year before I took an MLB in the 1st which was a slight reach (I distinctly remember there being better value at the pick). And I took another in the 3rd but that wasn't a reach. Fortunately all 3 have worked out for me (Laurinaitis 80 > 88 in 2 seasons, Tufts flipped to OLB and 75 > 86 in 2 seasons, McClain 78 > 84 in 1 season) ... Copied to Clipboard!

CB Ricky Manning (81) and QB Rex Grossman (84) are on the trading block. Your incentive to take Grossman off my hands is it means RG3 starting in your league! ... Copied to Clipboard!

Today's the day I find out I've drafted all 78 or lower or some crap! I do not have a historically good record of drafting high rated players from the get go You mean that isn't always what happens in the draft? Cause that seems to be my experience. With the exception of Rucker who I drafted way higher than a Kicker normally would be. --- Maniac64 ... Copied to Clipboard!
