Well I don't know but as a person who gets refunds for things usually I don't hunt down topics to complain after the fact. Maybe I would fill out a customer survey. If you have a life I would suggest filling it with love and kindness. Also no comment of mine is typical, and you are a joke. Literally a joke. Truth be told it is just hope that you have no life because if you actually have one I have no idea what you are even doing making the argument you are. Go enjoy your love and happiness if you have it, that was the least of my points.

Everything you say has been said to me and to tons of other people who have complained about D3 on any forum. All of your comments are typical of the blind D3 defense force.

Don't get me wrong, I feel like I got my money worth, But there are definitely instances that this would have been incredibly annoying to me. Let's say someone wasn't aware of this policy (because it's not common) and a group of a few people got it to play over the weekend. They buy it on Friday, it's available for play on Sunday-Monday. Great, plans ruined.

How am I blind? Because I don't have the patience of a four year old? I guess it is because I've played online games for years and server stability and hiccups are customary to me. It sucks, it isn't acceptable, but I have played the game for over a hundred hours already and for the most part I have enjoyed myself. I basically had to wait three days to play D3 because of launch issues so I did other stuff for three days. I do not understand how it bothers others so much to have to wait to play a video game. I literally don't understand what goes on inside of your head to make you think that is such a big deal. Note: I respect your right to get a refund out of it, that's not an issue. But here you are after with such venom. Also I really do apologize for the no life comment, I should have just called you stupid like I was thinking instead of going around it.

It's easy to jump to hyperbole when they were once Top5. They're no EA or anything, but they are falling from their graces. I still play WoW, so I can't say I hate them.

I don't really rank companies like that too much. I just focus on the games. I enjoy WoW a lot even though I haven't played it in a few months and do that at least twice a year. Diablo III is really fun and I enjoy it. I just think it is a joke that I am supposedly some kind of blind Blizzard lover when really I just know the game I played.

Isn't Square the worst company ever at this point in time?

It's been 8 years since they made something I enjoyed. Blizzard has given me Diablo 3 which is amazing. Activision gave me my Call of Duty Black Ops. EA has given me Fifa and Madden.

Square gave me FFX in 2001 and FFXI in 2004 and since then...

They're awful in game quality perhaps, but we're talking 'bout corrupt business practices here, and Square don't have 'em.

I never get why people defend these things. "3 days, big deal, entitled, yadda yadda". Of course it's not a positive to wait three days, it's a negative.

Plus, any criticism of a company is good for the consumers, even if you don't agree with it.

Not true. It is good when it is done in a way that can make the company take notice. Example: Refund. Lots of refunds make them understand.

lol "years later" I'll admit I beat the game twice (once with a Monk, once with a DH, higher difficulties don't interest me) and yeah, I played for about 60 hours, but I don't see myself picking it back up unless I get nostalgic a few weeks before the expansion comes out.

Then I guess I should ask you just what kind of game you thought you were buying.

This is one of the things that bothers me about many of the D3 complaints that I have read. The idea that Blizzard somehow misrepresented the game they were selling to people.

This is Diablo 3. I bolded the 3 because that is the important part. This is the THIRD game in the series and it is similar in many respects to its predecessors. The game is meant to be beaten multiple times. In many other games when you are first starting the game it gives you a difficulty option of "Normal or Hard" (maybe Expert as well?) and it is possible to play the games on the higher difficulty levels straight from the get go. Not so with Diablo. You aren't even allowed to begin a character in 'Nightmare' (the 2nd difficulty level) and even if you COULD you would be unable to kill anything with a level 1 character.

I wouldn't buy the next Madden game and get disappointed that it's a sports game.
I wouldn't buy a Final Fantasy game and be annoyed that I didn't get a point/click adventure game.
You shouldn't buy Diablo 3 and expect the content to stop just because you beat the game on normal.

That is completely contradictory to everything we already know about the series. And in Diablo games "normal" is more or less an introductory look at the game. Most people who have beaten the game on normal would agree that there is very little "real" difficulty to be found in normal difficulty.

I mean sure I could lament on all the things that diablo is NOT. Diablo 3 is NOT a game that you can fully experience in 20 hours. Diablo 3 is NOT without server problems from time to time. Diablo 3 is also NOT without it's share of spammers and hackers. (I learned this hard way when I got hacked and lost about 300k gold. I have earned and spent millions of gold since then.)

But what Diablo 3 IS is a fun and fairly polished game that delivers an incredible experience akin to its predecessors. And because of these things I have already logged 175 hours into my main character. I knew what I was buying and Blizzard delivered the kind of game I was expecting.

A game developer is being called "worst ever" because they made a very fun game but if you buy it online they make you wait 72 hours before you can play it.

That's the deal breaker for you.

Really?

Man, my generation is so entitled it is a joke.

Yes, this singular incident is the one and only reason I called Activision-Blizzard the worst company ever. They have never had any other awful, unethical, anti-consumer practices in the past generation of gaming, not once.

What kind of fraud is this supposed to prevent? Why does it only apply to digital copies?

Easy. Stolen credit card buys a digital copy of the game, and the farmer farms in the game for coin or auction house items and manages to sell them before getting banned for using a stolen credit card. Rinse and repeat.

This.

Does it kinda suck? Yeah, sure. Gold farmers and the idiot players that buy from them are the ones that caused this though. Not Blizzard. Honestly I think they need to take MORE proactive measures like this against gold farmers, not less.

Yes?

Chris has already made upwards of 50 dollars selling random drops he had no use for if I'm not mistake.

I've only made 16 dollars myself, but it doesn't take long to list stuff. And so if diablo items happen to sell, great. If they don't I'll live. I'm still having fun playing the game and receiving money on top of that is just a bonus.

words

I'm not really complaining about the gameplay. Whether it's "intended to be played multiple times" or not, I rarely beat a game more than once and I did beat D3 twice with 60+ hours of gameplay. For my money I paid Blizzard a dollar an hour for entertainment, which is a good deal. Honestly if a game lasts over 30 hours for me, that's a good deal and the rest is icing on the cake. However, I do not like some of the out of game aspects of the game.

The RMAH is absolute crap because it basically ensures that I will never get a piece I want without using the auction house since Blizz can alter what kind of rewards I get. I find it much more rewarding to wait for a good drop (doesn't have to be the best of the best with amazing stats for me, just a legit upgrade) than grinding trash for hours in hopes of saving up enough gold to buy the item I want, or worse, spending cold hard cash on it. People say "It doesn't matter since with stuff like WoW it unofficially happens anyway" but that's not entirely accurate. A lot of people are deterred from doing things not endorsed by the company that made the game, especially when it's a banable offense. As soon as the company says "yes, this is ok" you're bound to have an explosion of it. I got about halfway through Nightmare and got bored because I didn't get a single upgradein Act 1 or Act 2 and Act 3 is boring as hell to me in the beginning (Higher difficulties typically don't hold much weight for me, but I figured I'd give it a shot). So am I supposed to be bored out of my mind grinding gold, or am I supposed to give them more money? I'd prefer to do neither, there are plenty of good games out there that don't require either. And of course, the three day waiting period thing is stupid, but we've already been through this.

it feels to me like blizzard's attempts to combat 'activities that can weaken everyone's play experience' have done more to weaken people's play experience than any malicious players out there. not just this, which isn't that big of a deal, but chest nerfs, jar nerfs, huge retroactive item changes, etc. they seem to be rebalancing the game around their LEAST desirable players, which is not very enjoyable for everyone else.

See that I can agree with, it feels like Blizzard has been making some mistakes in handling the gold farmers.

Yes, jars used to drop a decent amount of gold.
A decent amount for 1 person to pick up during their personal runs of the game.

An ABSURD amount of gold though for someone using bots on a hundred different computers.

But they need to find some other way to crack down rather than make the jars inherently less useful to farm. And the fact is changing their drop rate doesn't make the person with bots on 100 computers any further behind. They will still get 100x more gold than 1 person playing by themselves. Drop rate used to be X and they made 100X. Drop rate is now Y and they make 100Y. It doesn't really affect the issue that someone who is going out of their way to cheat is going to earn more and earn it faster than people playing the game as intended.

Not to mention the fact that the MF nerf to treasure chests makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
Absolutely none.
They already removed all of the cheaply easy and farmable chests from the game, which is fine. It also removes the need to completely gimp resplendent chests. You can't get to them without actually doing some amount of work now, so why nerf their drops?

They need to be looking for more sophisticated ways to detect botting for one. And they need to be INCREDIBLY harsh in dealing with the general chat gold spammers. First offense? Ban. They want to get unbanned then let them try and call customer service and explain why they were spamming people with offers to sell them gold and power level them.

The problem of course is that those accounts need to get banned BEFORE they turn a profit. The cheaters are not going to stop if they make 400 bucks on an account before it gets banned. They will only understand when they start paying more for cdkeys than they are taking in by the cheating. And in game nerfs (other than the obvious fixes like with those resplendent chests) do not help that at all.

The 72 hour thing though? It actually does serve a practical purpose.

Yeah my problem is with the thing HGR was saying more than anything. I don't care about the 3 day thing because I usually have things I can do to occupy my time while I wait 3 days, and it's not like you can even make the "release day" argument because... well, it's been out for a month now. You waited a month+ to play the game so I don't see why all of a sudden 3 more days is a huge deal.

But yeah I assumed with always online they'd be equipped to you know, detect botting and stuff?

Why are they balancing their game around botters instead of trying to better detect botters? You'd think it would be doable in some way. GIVE ME BACK MY CHESTS.

The thing is that the economy ties in so hard to the gameplay, that they can't let botters/farmers go free, or else they will begin to run the economy. This was fine in D2, but now they really want to control the economy so that it's "fun for everyone" aka they want there to be a slowly growing economy that will compel people to buy and upgrade items in the AH very often. Especially with the RMAH, they really want to control things.

It's just a side effect of making your in-game transactions gameplay-related. If you use a model like Valve's where it's just cosmetic, then you can just let farmers and botters to their thing, since controlling the economy isn't that important. You can just focus on making things fun.

It's just like modern central planning banking systems. The Federal Reserve COULD just let things to the free market way and let the economy evolve naturally, but there is a lot more profit to be had (for the bankers/Blizzard) by limiting the momentum of the economy and constantly keeping it in the market cycle of depressions and market booms
