It's sort of nice to know there are 'news' sources whose comments sections are even worse than the Daily Mail.
On the upside, assuming the commenters are representative of the audience this site/station is actually trying to attract (and I'm not familiar with most US radio stations, but I've heard of Sean Hannity, and none of what I've heard is good), the article itself appears to be saying this was a bad move on Apple's part. Which the Daily Heil would probably try to twist into being entirely justified and the Iranians' fault.

"My name is Ezio Auditore da Firenze, and like my father before me, I am an accountant" Nothing is true. Everything is tax-deductible
It's hilarious. Apple is saying that they can't sell their stuff under export laws.
The people that are complaining aren't intending on taking it over seas. They're trying to use them HERE. The fact that they denied it to a US citizen (the girl) is hilarious

Zack JAFARzadeh? Well, THAT ONE'S just asking for it, isn't he~? "No, no, no, we can't sell to you, you'll use it to empower your journey to become an evil ruler!"

There's always hope for better things in life. But you can't let anything, friend, lover, God himself, be your hope. You have to be your own hope.
I work in banking and I know there are a ton of UN sanctions that stop us from letting people from certain countries open accounts with us, but this just seems to be a case of Apple trying to do someone else's job. If it's illegal to take laptops and phones to Iran, then it's customs that should be policing that, not Apple.

If it's illegal for someone to be in this country, it's the border patrol that should be policing that, not potential employers.
Agree?

I'd say it was their job to report it, not police it. Kind of like how if you see a house on fire, you phone 911, not grab a bucket.

As bad as this is for Apple's PR, it's a good opportunity to re-emphasize that the "love and tolerate Muslims" thing is a naive fantasy. I really hate to break it to people, but Islam and Western secularism are competing, mutually exclusive conceptions of social life.

Very solid trolling. I almost responded seriously to this one.

Not trying to derail this discussion, but too many people are going to get on Apple for being "bigoted." As if all cultures, even those with competing agendas to our own, should be respected. I find it pretty ballsy on Apple's part, although the backpedaling and DAMAGE CONTROL is imminent and inevitable.

You realize that this policy is just against Iran, right? If I recall my early 2000s American propaganda, Islam was all over Iraq, Afghanistan, and even Pakistan! Or maybe you are criticizing Apple's policy for missing out on some big Islamic countries?

The thing about this story that confuses me the most is that it appears to be a critical failure of capitalism. Apple likes money, so why would they refuse to sell a product to someone for a stupid reason that's very out of character for a major corporation in the 21st century?

Because they're more concerned about being on the wrong side of the government. And for good ****ing reason...

There are many more muslims in Southeast Asian countries such as Indonesia than there are in the middle-east, yet we seem to get along just fine with them
