When I play a horror game I think of a focus not on the combat (it can even be awful I don't give a damn) but on the puzzles, trapped like scenario that involves puzzles/lots of backtracking/traversing, and mood/setting.

Will it give me that alla REmake? Silent Hill 2?

Thankfully it does everything you mentioned.
Puzzles, check.
Lots and lots of backtracking, check.
Great mood/setting, check.

But it has a fair bit of combats you can't run from too.

And have you played Rule of Rose?

If you just want puzzles and lots of backtracking, you should like them.

REmake and Silent Hill 2 are much better than the Fatal Frame series. I really don't like Fatal Frame. They're intended to be scary, which they're not. Combat is annoying more than anything.

no i have not. notable scary games I've played are... Doom 3, REmake, RE0, RE2, RE3... 4 and 5 don't count.

Silent Hill, Silent Hill 2... I'm sure there's a few more that have scary "situations" but nothing like the afore mentioned ones. My favorites of what I mentioned are SH2, REmake and Doom 3 (despite being a poor shooter, it captures horror setting PERFECTLY)
