Light is flashing red. When I press the button, it turns solid red. Then I press again to turn it on. Turns on for a hot second, then quickly turns yellow and quickly turns off and goes back to flashing red light. Repeat.

From Google searches it seems like it's dead. The cause seems to be an overheating issue. You'll need to send your console in for repair.

dunno much about PS3s but I recall hearing people say the Red Ring of death equivalent for the PS3 is "The Yellow Light of Death"
