Almost 2 hours, huh?

Good. I was pretty worried when I learned how little there was left, but this is like 2 and a half episodes, so that's decent.
Still not sure how the Alternative Universe scenes are going to tie in, and there are still so many mysteries, I doubt it's going to address too much directly.

I lot of ups and downs with this show, but it was thrilling all the way.

No matter what happens, it was all worth it. Journey, not the destination, and all that.

Yeah I don't know.

The spirituality was quite heavy handed.
And it all seemed so pointless. Why attempt to even show what happens after death? Was that a theme in the story? It's not the whole sequence was created by the island was it? I don't even know why some people were there and some weren't. And some of those guys were there probably after dying of old age. Weird weird.

At least it didn't really mess with the main story too much I don't think.
Jack went out like a hero.
Kate's crew escaped.
Hurley and Ben become bestest friends and rule the island for a long time.

I'll have to look up some stuff that I missed before I lay down the hammer, but for now it was overall satisfying, if you take the death world scenes with a grain of whatever salt.

Closure. The entirety of the flashsideways were about the characters working through their issues- Jack proving to himself he 'had what it takes' to be a better father than his father, Kate finding people who accept her for what she is, Sayid learning that he is a good person and he didn't need to cling on to Nadia to validate himself, etc.

I don't even know why some people were there and some weren't.

Watch "The New Man in Charge", it's an epilogue thing and kind of touches on this. But basically they had to be ready to move on and had to consider each other the most important parts of their lives to end up together like that. Not everyone did.



I don't know why so many people hate it myself, it ties together the character arcs nicely.

But this board mostly hates the finale as a whole.

Sayid's whole storyline was about him letting go and moving on. Like, from season 1. The only reason he cared about Nadia is because she was the only one that validated his existence.

(I'm not saying he didn't love her, just that was his reason and his plot was about him realizing he didn't need that validation)

Lots of stories have characters that die and live. But we don't have huge dead world scenes just so they can have happy endings.

It's a shame about the dead scenes stuff, but everything else was fine.

Well I do have some reservations.
Not Locke didn't really seem all that bad and I think sympathized with him more than the Jacob side.

Also I really liked Locke and wish he didn't die.

Ab Aeterno was amazing. The rest of season 6, no, it was not fine at all.

My only issue with the finale is the Sayid thing. If they were going to go the "Shannon was the most important person in my life" angle I'd have liked it to have been done a little better.

I hate how the massive cynicism of everyone has impacted how I view the finale. now all I can remember is the stupid stuff.

Season 6 sucked because despite being a show "all about the characters" it wasn't at all about them and was just a big dumb metaphor for good and evil and everything in between. The entire purgatory stuff was a complete waste of time. And then any answers they had were a big fat disappointment in the way they presented them and showed that they didn't even f***ing care about that aspect of the show and just felt like telling their stupid story about their Jacob and Man in Black that everyone would have completely s*** on had it been in any previous season.

Also, Jin had a mother f***ing child and could have lived god f***ing damnit Jesus.

I'm gonna remember Lost in a great way, despite thinking a lot was dumb.

At the very least it was incredibly unique. I'll always love really serial shows as opposed to episodic ones. (non-comedy)

I love how they depict an afterlife that is completely like real life in every way, right down to people dying in it. Wait, no, that's stupid.

Also, being the afterlife completely negates the nuclear explosion having f*** all to do with causing the flash-sideways, when they blatantly indicate that that's what caused the whole thing. Unless there was no afterlife before people detonated a nuke on the island.

Also, MIB being every postmortem, non-afterlife appearance of Christian creates a ridiculous amount of blatant plot holes if he can't cross over water. Hell, he briefly appeared outside of the damn island.

Lost had really good plot continuity before Season 6.

My problem with Season 6, without hopefully going into too much ranting and raving, is twofold:

1) The Flashsideways, while nice and it's great to see all these characters playing redemptive arc again, was just one long, drawn out plot twist that had nothing at all to do with the island plot besides Desmond realizing there was an afterlife and that the island had something to do with it. No ties at all. It negates the timeline speculation of The Incident, plays around with our expectations (which, okay, cool I guess) on how the timelines will have to merge at some point, and is just one long epilogue. Also, did anybody notice the ocean?

2) The main, driving plot on the island. Take out all the sideways distractions. Just remove them. Everything about this plot is so filled with holes, unnecessary red herrings (Ilana, the sword, don't speak to Smokey, Temple, Claire and Sayid, Desmond, Widmore, etc. etc.), the stupidest plots in Lost (Sun hit her head and now she can't speak until she hugs Jin and doesn't get fried by the electric fence; Sayid is alive, but he's also evil, and now he's British, and now he's suddenly repentant cause Desmond's so cool). The only characters I felt had any lasting plot that worked for them were Jack (obviously), Hurley, Ben, Kate, and maybe Sawyer. Maybe Richard, too, while we're at it. And the Man in Black, oddly enough. Everyone else, in a "it's all about the characters" show, got completely shafted.

Well, Lapidus, too, but that's less character development and more Chuck Norris.

tl;dr

1) Sideways plot was just one big, M. Night Shyamalan style twist.
2) Island plot was stupid and full of bad plots.

At some point you get trapped in the fallacy that you've already wasted so much time on a show that quitting before the end makes it even more pointless than if you just stick it out.

That logic is what made me watch four seasons of Heroes.

i dropped Heroes i think literally around 5 episodes before the end.

Yeah really happy Miles and Lapidus actually survived.

Faraday was another fave, but I knew he was way too pivotal to live.

The flash-sideways is majorly underrated. No, it wasn't just some Shyamalan twist; it was an alternative medium to develop and flesh out the cast even more. Granted, some episodes accomplished this better than others- compare Lighthouse to... whatever one Sawyer's was- but this was equally true of the flashbacks and flashforwards!

All the points made against the Island plotlines, however, are spot-on and what really brought down the final season. And man, why did the big reveal have to be an island buttplug? -__-;;
