the only recommendation I can think of:

2 hosts to put up rounds. need 2 rounds per day, and only getting rounds around FFD's schedule is pretty lame.

I like the concept of 10ish rounds per week and the idea of a backup host. Now that I've run a full contest under raytan's wishes I feel more comfortable fully making the contest my own.

The only problem is that this is inexcusable for someone who is supposed to be the "lead" character.

So I don't know how you can say 'well that only averages out to 5/10 when the main character ceases to be remotely relevant to the story'

And I don't want to hear 'well if he's doing nothing then he's not being actively annoying.' It's not the same as Penelo being useless all game because she's not supposed to be the main character. There are certain "expectations" when a character is thrust into a certain role.

Also, Squall isn't really thrust into any sort of leadership role until later in the game anyway, so I don't know if he necessarily "needs" reasons to fight beyond "I'm a SeeD and this is what I do because I'm good at it" in the early part of the game. You may not like that, but it doesn't really bother me that he has no real reason for fighting to start with beyond "I'm a SeeD." And people admire him because of his talent. Not sure what's wrong with that. You put him in charge, he gets things done.

--The hiatus was bad, I will admit. Had I not warred with Comcast it wouldn't have been so bad, but I didn't feel comfortable appointing someone in my stead at that interesting time in the contest. Otherwise I don't think I did so bad, and didn't get burned out from hosting it so I'm happy to host again.

2. How did this year's Top Ten compare to others for you?
--Pound for pound this was definitely one of the best I'd say.

3. Which character are you hoping to make a run next contest?
--See below.

4. What was the biggest upset in this contest?
--Delita repeating his top ten performance after people hounded on him being in the top ten last time. It's good that he's finally getting some respect. That being said the buttpants going down early was surprising too, he usually has a solid core that gets him to midgame. I'd like to see a FFT character make a push towards the end some time.

5. Does Zack deserve to be champion? Why?
--Of course. He's my number two character in the series, so I can't say I'm displeased at all.

6. Does Squall deserve to be runner-up? Why?
--He picks up a lot of unwarranted hate, so it's good to see that he can make a final. Against the right opponent he could win one too.

7. What number would you like to see the field at next year? (75/80/85/90/95/100)
--I'm open to suggestions here, but people seem to be okay with staying at 100 with the new boot rules so long as the are more rounds at more varied times.

8. With the floodgates open next year, which newcomers and returners would you like to see?
--I for serious would like to see Aki Ross, but I'm sure that I am like... the only person ever who liked Spirits Within.

The final about went how I expected it to, even my great Luca Blight moment couldn't save poor Squall. I tried, Leon.

I have a lot of respect for you FFD and would follow you through any fire that was not literal, as I don't like you quite that much. The people who tried to undermine this contest and your credibility can go rot in hell as far as I am concerned. You are one of the most honest and noble people this board has ever seen, and I know you don't need the support, but I will bury those people in the future in new and creative ways. Scum Chris is plotting on your behalf, friend. #longliveffd.

2. How did this year's Top Ten compare to others for you?

I don't really care, to be honest. I do these for fun and while seeing Steiner go out before it was of course a tragedy I generally let people have their own opinions regarding these things.

3. Which character are you hoping to make a run next contest?

Steiner for top ten would be glorious.

Steiner in the top 20 seemed to shock the hell out of everyone.

Sure, I love Zack. Why? Because he was on my Mercs team.

The number 90 looks oddly pleasing to me. It would avoid some silly characters while still getting most of the good stuff in there I think.

A universe can't vice grip this contest because of it's nature. Things seem to even out very quickly in the beginning and then pair down evenly towards the end. Most times. Plus a cap would run counter to the idea of having the most wanted characters in the contest.

Well I mostly suggested it just so one or two games wouldn't take up 25-30 spots by themselves. A cap would leave more spots open for characters from other games and stuff. Even a cap of 8-10 will cut out the weaker characters from those games and leave spots for new characters from various games to join.

Only 1-2 games would even have an issue with a 10 character cap and majority opinion on who should be in could settle the entrants. I'm not saying every game needs more characters, but this is mostly just to try and prevent any case where a game/universe eats up a giant chunk of newcomer/returner entrants with nominations now that movies and stuff are allowed too.

Some universes are bigger than others. I know you hate FF7 but next contest it will have four games, a movie, an OVA, several novellas, and a book to draw from... and eleven characters already locked into next contest that I could not remove even if I wanted to.

Basically swordz sounds like he just wants to support this because of FF7 (literally the only game that can keep pouring in characters). There's no reason to place a limit on the number of characters from one game; so what, keep a major character like Kadaj out so we can have random character no one but jokers care about from FF2 or something?
