Congratulations to the beauty, but a funny girl... BELLE!
The captain made a valiant effort with a late rush that made things interesting, but in the end just couldn't catch up to the princess. Belle now joins Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck, Fa Mulan*, and Goofy in the pantheon of SMDC champions. Her grand prize?
FINAL SCORE: Belle: 29 Captain Hook: 25
I'd like to thank everybody for an extremely fun and pretty drama-free contest. As the host, I appreciate everybody's contributions and participation in making this an easy to run affair. I think we've built a nice little community of savers here and I just want to thank you.
And as always, any feedback is much appreciated. Suggestions, comments, ideas for improvement? Who was the biggest surprise? Who will be your priority next contest? Anything at all!

I miss the one-minute rule!!!
Who was the biggest surprise?
Ermine and his outburst after Stitch was eliminated... Oh, you mean as far as characters go! Tod, Lampy, and Pooh are all good nominees for that category, but I'd have to give it to the silly ol' Winnie the Pooh bear.
Who will be your priority next contest?
Haven't decided on anything yet. Here's the tentative list of top ten priority candidates though: The Beast, Aladdin, Judge Claude Frollo, Dodger, Maleficent, Princess Merida, Captain Li Shang, Captain Jack Sparrow, Tiana, Scar, Thomas O' Malley, Tigger, Shego, Stitch
The 1-minute rule was a leeway I had in their that allowed you to change your save within a minute. It was a bad rule that could easily be exploited, but thankfully never was.

Wow, that sounds like it would be an awful rule to deal with. And so not worth it.
It would be cool to get a winner that is not a Classic or a princess, but Hook... kind of sucks. How about we get a non-comical villain to the finals next time? I suggest Frollo or Scar!

Gen! You should join up with me and make Dodger a top priority for next contest! And other people should be willing to join me on that, too :). I might make it worth your while if you need convincing.
And yeah, I'll get the stats up for the top four in a little while. I'd definitely vote Tod for surprise of the contest, though.
And big thanks to Poke too, for being my main ally this year, and of course Vish as well for having his secret #1 being Belle the entire time. Me and Poke were doing everything we could to keep Belle alive until you came back, Vish, and once you did we were finally able to rest a little bit. The final four was just about the most nerve-wracking thing ever, as it came down to Belle vs. Stitch at the end, and me and Poke had been discussing how much we needed to get Stitch out for many rounds prior. For whatever reason, Stitch and Belle appeared to share a fanbase this year, so we knew Stitch's elimination would be huge for Belle. Sorry Ermine! And huge thanks to My Immortal for swooping in and saving the day.
The contest is largely coincidental, and it takes a great amount of luck and dedication to get your character the crown, but it feels so good when you accomplish it. Now that I've finally gotten my win, I'm not sure who I'm going to support next year. Jane will be up there, and I don't think I have it in me to just drop Belle. She won't be my #1 priority, but hey, a repeat would be cool, right? Getting a Hundred Acre Wood character the win would be satisfying as well, and I'll probably more heavily support Rapunzel. I felt bad secretly rooting for her downfall when she was one of my own top 10 priorities this year and my second favorite Disney princess, but hey, this was Belle's year. Ultimately I'll probably do more what Brett did this year, in that I will have one major priority in Jane, and after she's gone bounce around saving random characters that I happen to like.
Again, thanks everyone for a great contest, and I appreciate all the help Belle received throughout.
I wish I would have taken you up on that offer a few rounds back.
Also yeah, lol. I didn't want to bring it up again before the end of the contest after all the negativity it produced, but I'm legitimately curious why nobody took us up on our offer. I think we've built up a reputation of not only being honest, but reliable as well. For those individuals without any of their favorites still in the contest, it seemed silly to me not to take us up on the offer, especially if you didn't despise Belle. With either one of our full support next year you could take any character you wanted to and vault it into the top 20 at least.
I would support Dodger next year if he gets support from others.
I know mnk talked about it a while back, though I'm not sure how he stands on it now or where he'll stand on it come next contest. But including him (and if I can maybe convince Gen) that'd make four of us.

I think that actually would have hurt Belle if somebody had taken that offer. I didn't care muc either way about it (since I still had Scar left), but if somebody had taken the offer I would've started gunning for her.

I really thought about going for it. But I just honestly thought Belle wouldn't get to the end. I thought she would go out when Stitch did. I really thought Stitch had this thing won, but Belle prevailed! Congrats.

So it was more of a "if I take this offer there's no way she'd end up winning due to the resentment of the deal and I don't want to waste my time" type of thing? I guess I can see that. During the time me and Poke put the offer out there we were desperate though, as we knew we just had to keep her afloat until Vish returned. Even if it caused resentment I was still hoping someone would take it.

Stitch was a lot closer to winning than anyone (especially Ermine) gave him credit for. This'll pain the Stitch voters to hear, but I think he was one vote away from reaching the finals. Had he beaten Belle in the final four, I think the same kind of villain SFF would have occurred in the final three, and Stitch would have been the first one saved. I think the main difference would be Scar advancing though as opposed to Hook, as I would have tossed my full support behind Scar, and I think Poke would have as well. Ultimately I think Scar would have won had My Immortal not saved the day. <_<
It seemed like a really terrible deal tbqh. That wasn't just me b****ing because I didn't want to see Belle triumph- that really seemed like an awful deal.
If you've lost your #1 recently and if you support Belle for the remainder of the contest, I will main your #1 next contest if Belle wins this one.
That's too many conditions and the last one is especially damning. Say neither Scar nor Stitch is your number one, but you like them both more than Belle. In comes this jerkface offering to support your actual number one next contest if you support Belle over Scar or Stitch for the rest of this one. Say taking this offer inspires a lot of anti-Belle sentiment and your focus on Belle causes both Scar and Stitch to drop out. The anti-Belle sentiment overwhelms her in the finals with Hook and he wins. Then you'll have wasted your time with Belle, caused Scar and Stitch who you like more to lose, and you will have nothing to show for it the following contest.
Yeah, it's a risk, but I guess you just have to think of next year and how badly you want your #1 to go far, even if it means sacrificing this contest. Like, even if Belle didn't win, and you were left with nothing to show for it, I still think the potential benefits outweighed the negatives of losing some of your secondary favorites. Then again I had tunnel-vision this contest and ultimately didn't care how any of my other faves did so long as Belle won. Different motivations I guess.

Ah, I forgot Peter Pan and Mulan. Mulan seems like a lost cause with so many haters about and Former Champ Syndrome working against her. That's a shame.
Sorry I'm not revealing anything in my final list until next year.
Except Jack Sparrow. He is definitely there as I promised I would make him a top ten priority if charon helped me with Scar (win OR lose, Doc- that's how it's done). And Frollo. As he is my favorite Disney character, he will never leave my top ten priorities ever. He might go up or down, but leave he does not.
Besides that's Poke who wanted the sssssaastats this time.
If it couldn't be Rapunzel, at least it was Belle. Grats Doc. Now hopefully Rapunzel gains more strength with the current strongest princess out of the way.
