Regardless of what happens tomorrow night, Zack doesn't get a single vote from me this contest. I've always been somewhat lukewarm on the character himself (he's good, but not... ZackFAQs good) and like pjbasis, I admire a challenge.

But these sorts of posts are seen in every contest, really. There are always going to be those that stand up against the Goliath. Such is the way of things. My role in this contest will transform into such if Squall falls tomorrow night. And if he doesn't, then I will continue to champion him in the uphill battle to come.

Regardless, I am proud. I am content to have seen him climb so far and eager to champion a trio of other characters next year. This has been a fun little diversion.

I will continue fighting 'til the end.

With a Diablo 2 style bot, you just need to have it find the color you use to highlight the topic, and move your mouse to black within that area and click. Then the rest shouldn't depend on any variable.

I absolutely love VII's setting and story concept. Same with X's. VIII's is eh.

Tactics has the greatest gameplay and superb execution but man, when it comes to the concepts themselves, VII and X are superior.

I definitely wouldn't view FFX's antagonists as being 'for the hell of it', but it might not have been its strongest suit. What impressed me most was how breathtaking its world was and its melancholy atmosphere. It was a relatively unique gaming experience and I felt like Spira was (and is) alive in ways other RPGs have not realized.

As for FFVII, I actually rather enjoy all its towns, although few are top-tier or anything. But it sounds like you aren't a big fan of dystopian, cyberpunk kinds of things because usually FFVII fans cite Midgar as a huge deal and you didn't mention it. I like Midgar a lot, but I don't agree with the people who say the game would have been better had the party never left it. I also like Kalm's blue hues, Rocket Town's striking commentary on the space program, Cosmo Canyon's delicious Native American influence, Nibelheim's understandably dreamlike quality, Icicle Inn's calm after (and before) the storm, and so on.

I found VII highly inspired in this regard, and that isn't even why I love the game.

you see this immensely traumatic event from cloud's perspective and see the town literally burning, then you come back and wait what everything's fine. and the people aren't who you remember. they insist nothing ever happened. it's just really surreal and kinda haunting.

Hmm... I beg to differ. I see your point, but our world is so delightfully varied that I enjoy seeing the same thing from a video game. Cosmo Canyon is the ultimate antithesis of Midgar. Is it supposed to be? Well, given what goes on there, I'd say yes, absolutely. And Wutai lends a nice Japanese feel (at Far West, as it were). It all meshes together to form a world more diverse than, say, FFVIII's post-WWI Europe inspirations. I like that a lot. I don't get the same feel as you at all.

The NPCs sprout depressing things in most places, but not Cosmo Canyon, where they feel more at peace. With life, with nature. With 'God'. It's a religious statement against science gone horribly wrong. It's zen. It's Brahma. It's Lifestream. I dig.

And yeah, guys, Nibelheim is great because of all that. Well said.
