I was toying with the idea of declaring Reimi tolerable earlier in the game but it seems now the only interest the script has with her is throwing her naked into proceedings before the high-larious "zomg perv" awkward exchange with Edge. It wasn't funny the first time, just horrible.

I'm also literally describing the best character in the game here.

Thing is, I actually quite liked Star Ocean 3's cast. Had a few eyebrow raisers but Fayt, Cliff, Maria, Albel and Nel were all decent. I did not expect such badness from its successor.

Since this is kind of a Star Ocean topic and all, I'd like to take this opportunity to reiterate that the new artist hired for the PSP version of Star Ocean 2 is awful compared to the original (who was good but I'm not saying he was like... Michelangelo or anything, just better) and really drives home how little I care for the prevailing anime art style in Japan this past several years or so.

I didn't hate it! Certainly not as much as I dislike this stuff I'm seeing now. This artwork just feels so bland and uninspired and I don't know... completely lackluster. It looks more generic-cartoon-y but with 'dem devious moe eyes' crap I don't care for and whatnot.

The original art was nothing to write home about but it was more colorful and detailed and impressionable.

Edge is like 19, right? That means he's fast becoming a man but not quite there yet in accordance with the JRPG Rules of Age.

If Myuria is 21 then she's a woman who ought to be poppin' out babies soon because she's got like ten years left until she becomes a tragic heroic sacrifice. Again, JRPG Rules of Age.

Normally I'd recommend what I tend to do to make things less ridiculous and add 3-8 years to the age of anyone who seems like they need it, but that'd backfire in this case because turning Edge into a 22-year-old is just going to make Myuria look strangely insecure and possibly worse as a 24-year-old calling him a boy.

Thanks for the link sonton, I'll give it a look through.

And pun, the battle system is a lot better in 4. Story feels a lot more disjointed and the character cast is awful. Depends what you didn't like in SO3 (may be a long list). Wouldn't say I don't like 4 it's "ok" but the cast is really bad.

Emo Edge is the worst. The scene where he starts screaming when you arrive back at the ship. How you can have a game with Lymle in it, yet somehow trump her for worst scene is beyond me... Faize gives Edge a run for his money later on in the game though.
