Lets not even include the Garchomp I missed with eight consecutive 100% accuracy attacks (My last guy had 16 hp when I finally landed a hit on it)

Salamence shoots Manectric with Earthquake. Manectric survives with Focus Sash.

Manectric uses thunder, which does about 45% and paralyzes.

Manectric uses thunder again, which now crits for the KO.

A bit more than an hour of work lost. This reminds me why I hate the Battle Frontier. I hadn't touched Platinum for a year, but it seems to be continuing where it left off!

I find it kind of amusing how badly it always finds a way to hax you out with some of the trashiest guys in the game though.

The Battle Subway in Black/White is even worse. It's shortened to "BS" for a reason!

I don't know how its subway works.

Basically, it's just the vanilla Battle Tower from the Frontier. It's much worse for two reasons, though:

1) It was a really lazy effort on GF's part; and
2) The hax is so bad, it's almost on par with Pokemon Stadium 2.

Seriously, never use Hi Jump Kick on the BS. It WILL miss every single time, I swear.

So basically they nerfed the frontier as a whole -- Again.

Tower and Factory are the two I've never managed to beat because there's always enough hax to get me before I can get to the gold match. That or I'm forced to start with a team so bad its basically unwinnable.

Emerald's Dome was fun since when I got to the gold match, we had the exact same team (Metagross, Latias, Swampert). I stalled out his Swampert with continuous shifting between Latias (With recover) and my own Swampert (With leftovers), then still almost lost because Metagross popped an attack boost on its first MM.

Dumb computer.

I've played Stadium one, but not two.

I actually liked the Battle Factory, though! Gave me a chance to use Pokemon I might not have used otherwise. Thanks to it, I've grown to like certain Pokemon a lot more; Dustox, Plusle/Minun, and some others.

The factory comes with an absolute guarantee that there will be massive hax against you every 5-10 fights or so, and there's usually nothing you can do about it.

(That thing with Garchomp was in the factory, I could've OHKO'd the hell out of it, but Sand Veil made my first 8 attacks miss).

I actually still won that fight though! Medicham wasn't OHKO'd, got sandstorm'd down to 16, I then used endure and took a hit down to 1 while the sandstorm ended, then I salac+reversal OHKO'd Garchomp and the one following it, followed by a Zen Headbutt OHKO on Roserade.

I just happened to have one of the only guys left in the game who could pull that off.

Then next round I got stuck with a terrible 3 to start and ate 3 crits in 4 turns on battle 2.

"gg"

Actually it was more than 8 attacks in a row I missed, considering the sandstorm ended the turn Medicham endured (And I knew it would). Oh wait, I probably just didn't use attacks those other turns.

Actually wouldn't Wonder Guard Spiritomb still be an absolute sucker for toxic?

Its probably also a sucker to be stalled out with its middling offenses, especially if you run rest to deal with status and weather.

Man... I really dislike the Frontier-esque stuff and I always want so desperately to enjoy it.

It's basically the series' version of an RPG optional dungeon but I typically skip the whole ordeal because after experiencing how stupidly hax it all is from Emerald I had no desire to check it out much (apart from talking to some NPCs... lawl) again.

Doesn't matter, Weavile in the frontier always carries Sash + Ice Shard, and would beat that Ninjask by itself.

Its why if you take a Dragon to the Hall you have to take out ice and dark first, because the only prayer of beating Weavile is to hit AND burn it with fire blast.

I actually had a Miltank in one of my gen 4 UU teams with Scrappy+A fighting move just to lol at Spiritomb users.

every
time

Man, looking back at it, as much as I still am proud of my younger self for beating Stadium 2 despite all the hax, the movesets those guys had are beyond awful compared to what we face now with the BS and Frontier. Granted, we have access to so much more complex of movesets/strategies now that it's hard to compare, but it's still kinda scary to think of. I mean, the computer screwed me over so many times with access to little more than generic movesets with a variety of high power moves for decent coverage, and the rare chesto-resto, OHKO move, and double teamer. So many more ways it can f*** you now.

One thing Pokemon Stadium did at least was give you an Extra Live if you beat a trainer without losing any Pokemon. So if you got haxed you could at least try again, unlike the frontier where you have to go through 20+ trainers of weakling pokemon that are nothing but wastes of time.

That's what makes it even worse.

It takes an hour just to get to anything that puts up a fight.
