Hey guys. I've written four articles for Cracked (fifth one coming!) I LOVE working for them, and don't think aspiring writers understand just how amazing the experience is. Yes, the 5 million page views is pretty great, as is the hundreds of emails, facebook posts, and twitter comments I've gotten. What really makes me love it is the doors it has opened.
I'm a 21 year old english major. This summer I have 2 internships - one writing for an E-Commerce site, and one editing for Shonen Jump. Both jobs had over 100 applicants. They both told me that my Cracked stuff is why they picked me.
So ya, I'm big on Cracked. Basically, it seems like there's tons of super talented writers here, and I'm wondering if people want me to help them get on Cracked themselves. It's a pretty tricky process, but it's a very informative one. Hell, maybe I'll co-write with on of yall. Anyone interested?
I've joined the Cracked workshop, but the problem I ran into is that new writers are encouraged to be focused on fact-based articles, yet the articles I routinely love reading are the more opinionated ones by established columnists (John Cheese and David Wong in particular). There's nothing wrong with either fact-based or opinion-based, but it feels odd to limit a writer to just one.
Menji76 posted... how much is the pay? They just upped it actually! It's 100 dollars for your first four articles (important, you only get paid if/when they accept it and you write it). Every article after that is 200 bucks. Honestly tho, if you're in it for the money...it's not worth it.

Ya...that happens a lot. The best thing to realize that you can still be interesting and funny in that format. Also, they get a million views with their nuetral voice. More than the columnists most days. It works out in the end.
I once considered writing an article called "Everything I Know About Women I Learned From Christina H" which consisted of pointing out how she has taken every possible position on gender issues, many of which directly oppose each other.
But then I remembered that I'm lazy. Feel free to steal that idea if you want.

She is awful, yes. But that wouldn't work. Basically any article that declares an opinion ( especially about other Cracked writerrs) won't fly.
I'm interested. I haven't written here but I have a lot of experience with stuff here at school. I'm generally considered funny and have a colossal backlog of historical knowledge that could be used for their standard lists.
Edit: Sent you a PM.

Got your PM. I actually think your ideas will work. Cracked LOVES history stuff like that. Keep reading. The interest seems there here. Tomorrow I'll launch a full post/contest about getting on Cracked.

Why would you read enough of her stuff to even be able to write that? She's so bad.

1) That wouldn't run. 2) Way to troll a thread where I try to help writers improve their careers.
