Nintendo continues to pursue its "Gaming Population Expansion" goal based on the idea of putting smiles on many people's faces by offering brand-new entertainment that anyone can enjoy, regardless of age, gender, or gaming experience.
Nintendo strives to spread the "Nintendo 3DS" released last year, will endeavor to spread the "Wii U" to be released at the end of this calendar year, and will keep on offering not only Nintendo-developed new games but games and services making use of the capabilities of those systems by collaborating with software publishers while positively promoting potential evergreen software titles.
Moreover, Nintendo will push forward with "Nintendo Network," which is the network service for the "Nintendo 3DS" and the "Wii U," and offer game experiences, which enable users to compete and interact with others all over the world, and provide add-on content by utilizing its network functions.
Furthermore, for the purposes of adapting to the changes in the environment surrounding the video game market and creating new business opportunities, Nintendo is envisioning the digital distribution of packaged software and is aiming at expanding the digital business In the challenging and competitive video game industry, which consistently requires new and innovative products, Nintendo will continue striving to expand its offerings of compelling products and services by capitalizing on being a platform holder with powerful in-house software development teams.

Brawl is like ZSS' breasts. Well rounded for casual players http://img.imgcake.com/YetAnotherShadow/Gameboyfeverjpegez.jpg
Well, Wii U won't be released until around Christmas, so it's only got a few months in this fiscal year. Nintendo may also be playing down their forecasts so they won't miss them again, as happened a lot this past year.

Congratulations to SuperNiceDog, Guru Winner, who was smart enough to pick your 7 time champion, Link.
Interesting to see Gamecube really was the gamer's console. Wii probably owes it's large number to a few select titles that just smashed records. N64's library sucked lol.
GC I think was helped along by two things. First, it was actually comparable hardware to its direct competitors, so it had many more multiplatform releases than, say, N64 or Wii. Second, it was the only time we had the combination of disc media + Nintendo in last place, meaning games were typically discounted much more deeply than on other Nintendo consoles.
The handheld numbers really tell the story we all know already. They were always pretty popular, thus the low averages compared to the consoles; tons of people bought the system and only one or two games, where the consoles were less popular so only the more dedicated users even owned one. Then the DS exploded and 3DS HAS NO GAEMS. But it's getting better and looks like it has a bright future so that number should go up.

Anyway, I feel really optimistic about the 3DS right now. It's on a definite up-swing and Nintendo totally has the exclusive franchise power to make that number shine in the coming years. Its biggest enemy in the west is the mobile market but with series like Pokemon, Mario and to a lesser extent, Zelda refusing to pop up on iPhone and Android it's in better shape than some of the more over-the-top doomsayers are sayin'.
What's really interesting about those numbers are what it says about what's a "normal" amount of games to own for a system. I own more than triple the average number of games for every one of those systems, and I think most people who are really into video games are similar. So how many people must there be who own these systems and only have 1 or 2 games to give averages like that? At that point I can't really even imagine why I would want to buy the system at all.

Nor can I. And that's coming from someone who was indeed within those averages until a couple of years ago. I'd posted on Board 8 for a good long while before I was doing OK financially. I was the fluke on Board 8. But I didn't think I was the norm in general for that matter... apparently I was.
Even still, even as poor as I was, I didn't have one or two games for any of my systems except maybe the DS and PSP for a while. (Got the PSP for free from a friend, which was very cool.) Apparently there is a statistically relevant number of people out there who will literally buy a console or handheld for just those one or two games. They can't all be as poor as I was... I came into the systems I owned through lucky moments and occasional financial success, but most people with a PS3 have more money than I had at that time.
It just doesn't make a damn lick of sense. I guess there are just that many people who just wanted Madden or just wanted Monster Hunter or just wanted Pokemon or Call of Duty.
There don't have to be equal amounts on both sides of the extreme. The amount of hardcore people like us just has to be small, with the vast majority owning only a little under average.

Literally playing catch-up now. Nothing good is in store for Nintendo, it's good to see them punished for the abomination that was Wii.

I'm kind of sad it took Vlado this long to come in here. I thought for sure the title was like the bat signal for him.
Anyway, I do think Nintendo will do better this year as WiiU isn't hitting till the end anyway and they have all year to pushed the 3DS as well as get the last bit out of the Wii. I think the interesting year will be the following one when they have the WiiU out and the looming of the PS4 and the next Xbox to deal with.

this except I have a less vindictive take on it, the wii was ****ing awful but it's good nintendo is falling flat on their face now because it will pressure them to be good again. they still have a lot of talent, there is no reason they should have as bad a past 8 years as they have
