But does it do the synchronized folder thing? I like that about Dropbox, because I like to be able to access my files when my Internet connection is not working properly. My Internet connection usually works great, but I have enough problems when it is not working.

It's dropbox but it will almost certainly have better integration across all products with a stronger API. Also the paid plans are much cheaper.

I've been playing around with it for a bit, and I like the way it does filters.

You can filter files by type, privacy, and ownership when looking through your stuff. What's cooler is that these options work together as tags in the search field, letting you get even more specific about what you're looking for. For example, if you're looking for shared images, you apply the type and privacy filters to give you the files with those settings. Dropbox sort of does this with shared links, but this goes a step further.

Also, the collaboration aspect is neat. You can only do so if you convert a document to Google's proprietary Docs format, but this is completely optional; so if you're not the sharing type, you can simply leave your documents in its original setting. And even when you are done collaborating, you can then convert the Docs file into a standard word document so you can work offline. OR you can install a Chrome extension to work offline in Google's Docs format. So you have options in terms of how you want to upload and collaborate.

And of course, just like in your desktop, you also have the ability to search all the files you have in the web client in case you forgot.

You can even sort your files by size on the web, letting you delete stuff taking up a lot of space.

Not bad so far. Not bad.

My biggest issue with Google Drive is the ToS, which states they own anything you upload to the service. That's unheard of for a cloud storage solution. That blows my mind.

You are basically giving them a Creative Commons style license to be able to use your stuff in any way they want, but you retain the rights to the original IP. Like if I download a free song on Newgrounds, I can modify it and make remixes because it's licensed under the CC, and that doesn't change that you own the original song.

Basically they need it so they can convert your files into Google Docs format for simulatenous editing and such, and to convert it into phone/tablet/etc. versions.

Though this is an interesting scenario. I guess if you want something to be secret, you probably shouldn't upload it here or to any cloud server, even e-mail.

Yes, yes they do. I don't care what "clarification" there is. That doesn't change the wording of the ToS. It's there in black and white dude.

I take it you don't use Gmail or any other Google services then? Because that TOS applies to all of them.

Anyway, I think people are overreacting here. Nothing is going to happen to your stuff. Google is never going to argue control over your stuff. Google is never going to claim ownership of your stuff.

I do use Gmail and just said twice in this topic that I love Google's service and considered this to be the only thing I don't like about Drive. I am very familiar with all of their ToS and privacy policies, as the whole internet flipped out over their new unified system. That being said, you're absolutely wrong - the ToS for Drive is much different in the wording, or rather, the specific wording that I mentioned.

That being said, I agree with you that PEOPLE are overreacting here. I'm not one of them - because I'm not flipping out or anything like that. I think it's a flaw, a flaw that's stupid and makes me not want to use the service (but I am anyway).

I guess the ToS interpretations are going to vary here. To me, this is all that matters to make me feel fine about the whole thing.

Google:
Some of our Services allow you to submit content. You retain ownership of any intellectual property rights that you hold in that content. In short, what belongs to you stays yours.

Sure, there may be loopholes, but I honestly doubt that stuff will ever ever ever ever ever effect me.

You don't get it - it's a matter of principles more than anything. They're keeping the language broad when they don't need to. They can afford themselves the write to create derivative works (ie converting documents) and ownership (ie the ability to move and replicate data to make the services work) without the language used. As the internet and our usage of it continues to grow, so will privacy policies and terms of services actually start to mean something in our everyday lives. Some folks are taking a notice sooner rather than later (though, as you said, some people are being absolutely stupid about it).
