I guess while I'm at it should I ask when I get to the rest of these games can I play GoW3 before Chains of Olympus or is there details in that which carry over to 3?

Your phrase actively boycotting makes it sound weirder than it is, people saying they aren't into an idea and won't buy something if blank etc is pretty common and normal.

As for gameplay versus story, I don't need another dose of GoW gameplay enough that I'd wanna sit through a story that I'm not into.

And what I'm saying is this isn't a big enough deal to turn you off a series you apparently like quite a lot. Or at least, it shouldn't be. I just find that very strange.

I just think it'd be a very lame route to take. You go in a dramatic, almost artsy direction for the conclusion of the storyline, and then you deus ex machina the ending to make a sequel?

That's the thing, it was unexpected; it was character development. He does something other than murder, for the greater good rather than his own desire. He could fight his way out of Hades anytime for revenge, but in his own words, his revenge is complete. I guess they could go the Misery's Return route and do something really creative, but it has to be good or even the Annie Wilkes-tier fanboys won't like it.
