It's pretty funny how badly badges can break that game.

TONS of stat up badges + using that one buffing Crystal Star = normal enemies are not a problem and you win every boss fight without a sweat.

Of course until Bonetail puts you to sleep and hits you three more times before you can wake up and heal.

Sorry, but I'm pretty sure you do get capped on BP eventually (at 99?).

There's a guy somewhere underground that lets you move your points around essentially to change your previous level ups, who will let you lower your max HP to 5. Doing that and then taking advantage of Danger badges leads to the most broken setup in any game ever.

That's not exactly true. I can't recall the limit but there is one. You can have much more badge points in this game than in the other though, just like you can get to a much higher level (27 in the first, 99 in this). I can't remember the maximum amount of badge points, but I reached it in the afterplay.

they cap at a very huge number, so it's not really an issue at least you really want to level

BP caps at 99, HP and FP cap at 100. You'll probably cap HP or FP before the end of the game if you really plug points into one of them but you really shouldn't.

I prefer to get FP up to 10 for my first level up since that's effectively doubling the number of times you can use special attacks, which is nice. Other than that, BP all the way, until like the final chapter where I start investing in HP a little.

My first playthrough I finished with 50 HP, 25 HP, and 39 BP. And yet, I still spent three hours grinding for a bunch of Zess Deluxes right before the final battle, even though I didn't actually need them...

These days, I prefer to keep things as balanced as possible. Danger Mario runs have never appealed to me.

One time, before TTYD came out, I tried a run in Paper Mario that was BP levels only (and FP levels afterward), with just 10 HP and no HP Up badges (Happy Heart and such okay). It was fun but it basically got impossible at the flower fields. This would probably be a lot easier to do in TTYD since you can block attacks entirely in it.
