meh, people need to realize Toonami is ungodly overrated in nostalgia

The main thing I remember about it was taking 10 episodes for a planet to blow up in DBZ, what boring filler...

DBZ is one show. There is also Yu Yu Hakusho, Trigun, Gundam Wing, Outlaw Star and whole lot of others.

Why don't they just air the shows? Why do they have to brand it with Toonami? Unless the only reason people were watching it was for the cg cutscenes.

Why not just watch the shows online.

I don't get the desperation for toonami. You're on the internet, just watch subbed anime.

For the same reason people listen to the radio instead of just listening to songs on an iPod/youtube 100% of the time. Just something special about seeing your favorite thing on TV and knowing that tons of other people are watching it right along with you.

well, one reason that Toonami coming back would be good (for anime fans) is that it would increase exposure for anime in western audiences once again. . . something that has continued to plummet over time even with easy and legal methods for streaming anime online. this also might encourage companies to start licensing and dubbing new shows to put on the air once again. if this 'new' Toonami was made up of blocks that showed our favorite classics that people get all nostalgic about (to draw people back in) mixed with some new stuff (to keep the programming fresh and expose people to more things that are out there other than 10+ year old classics) it could go a long way for the American anime industry

as a fan, the ability to support the products that you enjoy is important, because it gives you a voice.

I'll get a Twitter if there's a petition to bring Time Squad to DVD, that's about it CN-related though.

Furthermore I think it's invaluable for the current generation of youngsters to get exposed to the quality programming that we were fortunate to enjoy growing up. I know it's a trope at this point to be all 'rah rah back in my day we had good television' but I cannot really see anything comparable to Toonami for the kids growing up right now.
