Seriously, if they'd even give the series a chance they'd see its an excellent series. one of the better stories in a game in recent history. *been seeing a lot of God of War hate*

and story sure as hell wasn't that important in either. it's heavy on style over substance. as long as you like that, you're fine. if you don't, then pick a different game.

The King Wang. Listen up Urinal Cake. I already have something that tells me if I'm too drunk when I pee on it: My friends. - Colbert.
I've played a bit of it, though admittedly not a lot. If I'm going to play a balls to the wall action game, I much prefer one in the vein of Devil May Cry.

I like the story. The characters are compelling and Kratos actually is deeper than just "angry guy".
But yeah the game's strengths are in style and pacing, with a flawlessly smooth flow of gameplay. DMC's action is way better, but it definitely flow worse than GoW. When GoW's pacing gets interrupted, everything else crumbles with it. Play on God/Titan mode to see this happen. DMC deals with difficulty a lot better.

God of War 1 is awful. Entirely due to mechanics/physics/etc. Pushing blocks is so slow. And there was a boss fight where you sort of came full circle back after you got a key or something? I got the health chests in front of this door before, on my first pass, so when I went back with key in hand, low on health, I had to fight the boss behind the door. Naturally, low on health, I died. So on continuing, I respawn outside the boss door with the same low amount of health.
Good programming. It's a whole bunch of little **** like that that makes GoW1 awful. I swear 75% of the time blocking doesn't work when it should.
