The details will probably bore you, but there's one part of the underground cavern where there's a long ass fall... actually, let me just use YouTube to show you what I'm talking about:



1:15. Without the bat, you can actually cross the gap from the left to the right via a perfect double jump + transformation into mist/wolf and back again. It's an abuse of the physics engine and a little tricky to pull off, but it means you can fight Succubus right after you get the mist powerup!

Well no I posted that because I was curious what you did.

Right on, man. I was just curious if it was using the Wolf form and dash jumps to get to the Clock Tower early since that's the one I managed to discover without looking them up. (well... I still never looked them up so the one you did is new to me)

Well, I've been toying around with it, and it could (re: probably not) be potentially very useful. If you try to string a bunch of mist uses together, Alucard will always lose a great deal of height, even if they're strung together perfectly. With the mist/wolf oscillation, however, Alucard actually gains height. With infinite magic, you could skip the bat entirely in theory.

As another example of where it can be used, the top floor of the library (where the Faerie familiar item is found) can be reached via this method.
