Well I don't understand,but I would like to have my username remain as it is.I have Safer_777 but it isn't as good as the current one.Still what can I say?They decide.

Well you're still allowed to keep your space account
.... but I'm not sure if you're allowed to keep long usernames... Does it give you this option? Yes, it allows you to keep a different universal and board-specific username. I changed mine, but there's no reason why anyone has to, at least not yet.
