Now that I'm pretty much done with Tales of Graces, I'm thinking of maybe possibly picking this up. Then again, Xenoblade drops pretty soon so maybe I should just save my money. >_>

It beats DW7 by a mile. Like, I love DW7, but this game just blows it out of the water in terms of gameplay, character selection, and stuff to keep you busy. Even the grind is more enjoyable this time around!

The only things DW7 has on WO3 is the story mode and DLC content.

I tried going back to 7XL just to see what it was like, and the small changes they made here and there really make a world of difference.

Yeah, I only played SW1 briefly, so they were pretty much all brand new characters. It's nice because they aren't all 6 normal attacks and 6 charge attacks like the DW characters; instead, some SW characters will have TTT, STTT, SSTTT, or SSSTTT combos, some will have up to C7 or C8 attacks, and lots of characters have 8 or 9 normal attacks in a row. Their musous function a bit differently in that they're more like older DW musous, but at low health, their True Musous trigger an extra animation with extra damage (DW characters just get added flame for True Musou). They feel a bit less refined than the DW7 movesets, but they're still a lot of fun and make for a good change of pace.

One thing I really like is the new Trinity Attack mechanic. It actually gives you incentive to kill peons, as do things like character proficiency, weapon compatibility, and EXP. Oh, and bonds are actually important because higher bonds power up your Trinity Attack.

The map design is also a step up from DW7, which (now that I look back on it) felt pretty much like you could make a beeline to the enemy commander to finish the stage.

The giant bomb article really makes me want to buy this ><. Thing is I still haven't bought DW7:XL and I know if I buy this I'll never get around to that...

And yeah, the 1000 KOs being a standard affair is pretty typical for the WO series.

7XL is pretty great. The new cutscenes aren't anything close to the original game's story mode, but they're nice. Overall, though, Legend Mode is way better than Conquest Mode, and the three characters that XL adds are all great. Wang Yi is awesome (and is actually a woman who historically served in the army), Pang De is badass, and Guo Jia has a really unique weapon. There's also the handful of new weapons the existing cast gets, some balance tweaks here and there, and the buff new weapons you get from Chaos and Nightmare modes.

If you absolutely had to choose one and only one, though, I'd say go for WO3. If you plan on getting both eventually, get 7XL first, haha.

Zhurong is the worst character in this game.

Are we talking character design or battle performance? Because I just did my first battle using her, and was very impressed. That high combo count builds up the team attack special so quickly, I ended up getting double my usual number of gems (which I never have enough of, ever.)

This is far and away the best Musou game I've played. Love it.

she builds the trinity meter fast, but on hard and chaos she takes a ton of damage because her attacks don't cause any stun. plus, wang yuanji and zhang he build trinity meter just as fast and much more safely.

glad you're enjoying the game though! koei has really outdone itself with this game imo

Yeah, I can see how she'd be unusable on higher difficulties. Don't even want to think about fighting archers on hard+ with her, especially if they're as bad as you say they are. Ran a few battles with Wang Yuangi, but that was before I knew what I was doing with the trinity meter. Would pick her back up, but the game keeps throwing all these characters at me! Wouldn't have thought Zhang He would do it as well, but I guess I'll find out soon, having to work on his bond with Meng/Zhu and all.

zhang he's ex attack is the one that builds meter. it's really silly.

I switched characters around each battle while sticking on normal mode the whole way. worked out for me. I found that leaving even one character in your party for a bunch of fights made normal too easy and hard too hard.

Yeah, that's the same thing I've been doing. I don't think I've used any character for more than 4 battles that guy's the one with four).

I've pretty much been ignoring everyone's EX attacks (except Lianshi's), so I probably would have missed Zhang He's meter building completely. Going to go try that out now, I think!

(Except Zhang He's a mission guy, so I guess I'll be using Zhu/Meng again. Whoops.)

The first set of DLC has been announced. It's nothing special (just extra weapons), but the fact that these were originally special promo code DLC in Japan (i.e. stuff no one expected to get, like the promotional DLC costumes for DW7), I guess it's a good sign of things to come.

Not WO3 talk, but...

Just recently 100% completed Warriors Orochi. Lu Bu's personal Item wasn't a problem, though the ones that require your weak as hell allies to stay alive until pretty much every single event is done were.

I tried that one strategist from SW, the one with the orb/blue flames, and he seemed to have the same problem. Maybe I just need to level them up so their damage isn't so crap. >_>

The dash cancel helps, but it takes musou meter and she still can take a bunch of hits at once with some bad luck/timing. And Kaguya seemed pretty average, nothing particularly amazing or terrible about her. Kanbei felt pretty crappy, yeah. Other SW characters fare better, though it seems like most of the time, DW characters just outclass them.

They do have a trick with activating musou with Osmosis+10 equipped, effectively letting them slow-mo until everything around is dead.

Anyway, that's it for my first day of play. As insane as it sounds, this really is way better than DW7! Three officers at once adds way the hell more than I thought it would, to say nothing of all these new characters for me to try, along with varied movesets. >_>

I think my favorite changes are the ability to cancel your running attack with another attack and that you actually have a reason to kill peons. The varied movesets and stuff are just icing.

I kind of wish they would patch the attack cancelling into DW7 >_>

Wow, what is the deal with Ranmaru Mori? She's slow, she's weak, and she has the health pool of a wet tissue.
I mean, characters I thought were bad have transformed into some of my favorites with just an extra move or two unlocked, but I can't imagine these weaknesses being overcome easily. >_>
