I was thinking about this in the car this afternoon, when "My 1st Song" came on my iPod, and I thought to myself "This really has to be the last song Jay-Z does at his final show, whenever that happens to be."

The only other immediate one that came to mind was "Everlong", which undoubtedly has to be the last song the Foo Fighters ever play.

What are some others? Sonic Youth actually will have this decision for Lollapalooza, but I'm not sure what I'd pick for them.

Have it it.

My criteria for a song would be that it is a combination of iconic and gives a sense of finality to their career.

I guess Enter Sandman would be fitting for Metallica except in my opinion it's one of their worst songs and I would be pissed if that's what they went with.

Actually.....Metallica's final song would definitely be Fade to Black, which would be a fantastic choice.

Drive would be a good choice for Incubus.

Still thinking about Third Eye Blind. Pretty much the only iconic song of theirs is Semi-Charmed Life, so they could play that just because it's their most popular song, but I feel like they would go with something more fitting and more emotional/passionate than just playing their most popular song.

Marking it down. We'll see in August(?) if you're right.

Tom Waits was another one I was thinking of, partially because I think he could theoretically just retire at any point in the future, and partially because I think he probably has a half dozen to a dozen songs that are roughly equally worthy

I was thinking "I Can't Wait to Get Off Work" would be pretty fitting, however unlikely it may be

The Decemberists love to end shows really upbeat and happy, though, which is why I think it could be Sons and Daughters - plus there's a nice poetic note to having a song about re-entering and rebuilding the world as your last song

My turn to projectile vomit. I want nothing to do with Morning View, plz k thx. Drive is a fine choice for a send-off, better than anything else I can think of. The other songs of their's that I like don't have any sort of quality of finality to them.

I don't know what came at the end of Live's last concert. If I know them, their first encore probably had the songs in it I would want, and then they likely came back out for a true encore. That was their usual M.O. I'd find it hard to expect them to end on anything other than Lightning Crashes + I Alone. Then again, they seemed willing to play just about anything at any time, so I'd readily believe anything from Overcome to They Stood Up For Love.

Collective Soul, I would anticipate December.

Fuel, if they ever play again, should conclude on Innocent or maybe Bittersweet, though they'll probably use Hemorrhage.

Green Day's is clearly Time of Your Life (which is rather tragically titled Good Riddance in actuality.)

When the Offspring finally wrap up, I actually would want Pay the Man to end the concert.

I would imagine Our Lady Peace would play Life last. I can think of other choices, but it's the most obvious candidate.

If Ozzy ever decides to call it quits, rather than randomly touring until he eventually falls over, I'd like him to end with Old L.A. Tonight, but I would understand if the choice was Back on Earth.

Pearl Jam hasn't truly been relevant since their third album. Ten was amazing, though. They should end with that album's conclusion, Release.

U2 - Where the Streets Have No Name. I don't think that one can be too easily disputed.

Trying to avoid newer bands, since they're too far (hopefully) from their last song.
