From: foolm0ron | Posted: 3/19/2012 8:54:11 PM | #086 It probably just searches for a bunch of articles that seem to be related, or maybe articles that link each other a lot, and compiles them and automatically submits it for sale on amazon/B&N
Wikis conveniently have categories that do this. This book appears to be the GameFAQs Contests category.
Computer Game Bot Turing Test. It's one of over 100,000 books written by a Markov chain running over random Wikipedia articles, bundled up and sold online for a ridiculous price.

So basically, some people in this topic probably just got gypped.

You put crap in google. They find people who sell that crap. You know, rocket surgery. Seriously, I'm more amazed that you guys don't do that than I am that these people... no... this thing has incorporated us into itself. Like some ever-growing beast. I certainly hope that this "book" on us is being revised to include this new info I have on you.
Actually, forget about the article I linked to. This pretty obviously has nothing to do with Markov chains, and is probably just a dump of wikia articles like everyone assumed.

The dump was still done by a bot and all of the sales are being done by bots, so I think the article is definitely relevant.

There's a review? ...Amazing. We should totally all give the book reviews.
From: Veola | #096 2. You didn't look hard enough. I didn't try fire emblem yet, but I found Mass Effect 2's one just fine. 3. The whole point is for finding games that might be a little harder to find than walking into just any store and finding 9001 copies of it. Try plugging a game that'll have slightly less than 20 pages returned.
2. The point was to show that even if I did use the shopping button, I may not have seen those things which were SO OBVIOUS to you. 3. I don't even have enough time to play the blockbuster hits of the year (like, I still haven't beaten Mass Effect 2), so I'm not aching to dig through the back catalog of what gaming has to offer. Sorry our interests are a little different, I guess. I must be not living.
