Ninjas are a pretty distinct subcategory of assassins. It's an interesting category because it includes anyone who takes part in assassination, in any setting.

Changing the category from Robot to Robot/Cyborg seems like it'd make for a more interesting contest. I know they're not synonyms but it makes sense to put them together (especially since it seems like a lot of the nominators were thinking of cyborgs too).

Here's an assassin that is not at all a freakin' ninja: Jude Law's character in Repo

Or Nathan Wallace in Repo! The Genetic Opera which came before Repo and is what that movie was loosely based on. They are hired to harvest organs legally. People need organs to live. By harvesting them you are essentially a legal assassin.

And you don't have to be Japanese, wear dark colors, or use ninjitsu for that. If pressed, I could think of at least a dozen other fictional assassins that are nothing like ninjas. >_>

I know Ninjas = Assassins is not necessarily true, what I was saying is they somewhat similar. You might also say that cyborgs and robots are similar, but really there should be zero crossovers from robots to cyborgs, unlike ninja to assassin where at least half the field will be from the ninja contest I'm betting.

And again, even though I still don't agree I appreciate all the feedback. My mind is just pretty set against this; I started these topics with a clear goal in mind and combining stuff that I feel is pretty different sort of goes against that idea.

About a half hour left to vote here, then I will create a new topic for the winner/discussion and some time early tomorrow afternoon or late in the morning, begin the nomination phase for our next contest.

I mean now that you mention it, I was totally going to nominate the lead character from that awful movie Ninja Assassins again, but the name of that movie lends itself to that sort of thing. I don't think any of the Naruto characters would pop up again except maybe Zabuza and/or Haku. Naruto, Sasuke, Kakashi, etc. are most definitely not assassins unless something has changed since Shippouden (I've only watched the first ten or so episodes).
