only ever played it at friends' places. never really did much in single-player. also, i'm awful at FPSes and am playing with a crappy logitech controller
let's do this

Look, it was impressive at the time, and it did wonderful things for the genre on consoles, but we only loved it back then because we didn't yet know how they should be done properly. By modern standards, it's bloody awful.

"My name is Ezio Auditore da Firenze, and like my father before me, I am an accountant" Nothing is true. Everything is tax-deductible
alright, just finished the dam on agent, mainly using the Kf7

instead of jumping off the dam after like 5 minutes, i took a detour into a bunker/silo thing and goddamn it got ugly. major shootout. managed to escape and then lost my way after that. plus i didn't even use my decoder thing for whatever easter egg (or more advanced mission i suppose) it would have been.

want to comment that 1. i went totally rambo mode in level 1, 2. the music kicks so much ass, and 3. i am quite enjoying solid snake mode in this one. picked off the guy in the toilet before dropping down; took out the next guy who fired at me fairly easily; and now i've sniped off a few guys as they were walking around on a lower level after the bathrooms.
now - to gain entry to the laboratory

yeah this is awesome so far. also auto-aim is awesome for people like me who have no controller-eye coordination.
after eliminating the abovementioned three dudes, i circled the bottom floor for-f***ing-ever until i realized that the green signs weren't really pointing me anywhere and discovered where the door that security console opened actually was. have since won a firefight against about three dudes.

objective completed! gained entrance to laboratory! but my peashooter's ammo is almost nil... gonna have to bust out the garbage assault rifle again. goodbye accuracy.

just realized that last time i had to pick up a key card first! didn't have it this time when i tried to enter. but, i quickly obtained it now that i know the level a bit better.

yesss, facility beated. great recreation of the movie there with trevelyan, loved it. also, why the hell did i need five mines to blow those up. in any case, i'm done!

well, went down firing on the runway. couldn't find the plane ignition key; was too busy killing enemies i soon realized respawned. didn't stand a chance.

anyway, did it this time. went to the other bunker to find the key. then i just hopped into the tank, cruised over (while getting shot to s***) and boarded the plane. couldn't figure out how to use the tank's gun. bah.

surface took humiliatingly long. disabled the radar quickly but kept wandering in and out of the cabins. then wound up trying to get into the bunker from the main entrance not once, not twice, but three times - after obtaining various different keys and blueprints that aren't even required on agent difficulty. finally went back and read the briefing. 'whoops'
spent the 'cool' part of the level using my sniper rifle, picking off enemies like a boss. there didn't seem to be that many. but after i started setting off alarms left and right (for a total of 6ish times?) they were everywhere. and they also took many hits to the chest to kill, which threw me off. grr.

fission mailed in the bunker. achieved neither objective (copy goldeneye, photograph main screen) - set off the alerts like seconds in and wound up firefighting the whole time. not that it wasn't fun (at first before the HORDES came) but eventually it got tiresome and i wound up accidentally exiting the level.

Great game. The only thing that really bothered me from that game, is there's no way you're going to figure out what to do in the Egypt without a guide.

Tornadoman78: tornadoman and tornadogirl like to kick box each other in my tornaolayzers and she dosent even mind getting hit
From: Pianist | #151 got slaughtered this time shortly after finding boris. how the hell do i not set off alarms...
Isn't he setting them off? I think you're supposed to either A. kill him before it happens (I don't think that's right), or B. it's mandatory and you have to try to frantically escape. Killing Boris after the alarms go off is okay.

i'm getting the alarms set off well before i encounter boris. just got annihilated again, though this time i did so with a desert eagle and dual-wielding klobbs instead of the af7.

yeah you're right. i did get caught by the camera.
BUT!
i have just beated this level! didn't realize what items i was to use... probably should have realized that i didn't actually need to keep boris alive this time. anyway, have been going on longer without triggering alerts and stuff which is a good habit at least, i guess.

We clasped our hands, our hands in praise of a conquerors right to tyranny
i really enjoy straightforward levels like the silo (even if i fission mailed once by not realizing what the satellite was). pounded the guards who appeared in front of me and generally was able to clean out the level in a pretty linear way.
had a bit more trouble with the frigate, where first i quickly failed the mission by planting the bug on the boat instead of the chopper <_<... next time round, beat it. that silenced D5K is slick as hell. took me a while to find the exit after i bugged the chopper but it was cool. wound up getting blown up a few times and only freed a few hostages (and several were executed), but hey, i achieved the mission!
couldn't figure out where the hell to complete the mission in surface ii and went down guns ablaze after about 20 minutes. enjoyed the atmosphere a lot at first, but eventually i set off the alarms, went up the satellite thing, failed to gain access to the building with the satellite, and died.

Man the Surface levels are probably the only ones I don't have completely memorized. I unlocked the grenade launcher and tiny bond and immediately forgot everything.
wound up killing natalya when the going got rough and dudes started shooting me from behind. stayed alive long enough to find the recording, but was soon dead
enjoyed the banter a lot, and the watch magnet trick was neat.
