Board 8 > Can anybody recommend a good city/world/whatever building game?

It can be on Steam, or something from a website. Doesn't really matter, just has to be PC.

Currently, I'm looking at stuff like Cities XL 2012 and Sim City 4 Deluxe, but I've been out of the loop with these types of games for a long time. I'm open to pretty much any suggestions, I just want to build stuff.

Terraria is nothing like Sim games or city builders, but it is pretty neat for what it is.

And miles better than that terrible Swedish game.

SimEarth and Terraria are good options, though I don't know where you'd find the former.

Minecraft? I don't actually find Minecraft to be as bad as Board 8 says it, to the point where I could say both are fine in their own right.

Dark Cloud is pretty fun for building worlds. It's nothing like Sim City.

The problem is you might not like the rest of the game.

It's pretty fun. You can find its predecessor Anno 1602/1602 AD in some bargain bin places for 5USD or so. They are both built under the same gameplay model.

Went with Sim City 4 Deluxe Edition by the way.

I spent a lot more time today looking for city builders with scenarios, and there just really isn't anything that isn't from 10 years ago.

I miss the strategy/simulation genre :(
