My understanding is that this guy was hired onto Evil Geniuses to do commentary. Then someone found some random, old video from some time ago before he was hired where he said the n-word. This video got spread around and people flipped s*** so EG fired him? Is that about right?

Somebody on reddit made a post about a ladder game against Orb that they just played where Orb lost and said that the poster took dumb n-word risks that only works when Orb messes up. This caused reddit to get out their pitchforks and demand Orb get fired. Orb said that it was a friend playing on his account and it wasn't him. Then reddit went back through all the Vods of Orb and posted more instances of him using the N-word when it was quite clearly him streaming and some friend. The CEO of EG came out and said they were letting him go in a TL post. He said that it was because Orb had used the word and nothing else; it wouldn't have mattered if Orb told the truth in the first place.

He says n-word a ton of times in games that are, to my knowledge, all or at least almost all before he was hired for EG, Reddit finds out, EG fires him. He's apologized and tried to defend the use and say that it wasn't as a racial slur but as a generic curse where any other curse could've gone there.

Some people have defended him and feel sorry for him for being a victim of the Reddit pitchfork machine, but honestly, I say he got what he deserved. People need to know that s*** isn't acceptable and that it can and will bite them in the ass in the future, particularly when using hard n-words like this which is pretty indefensible in my opinion. I mean sure, it sucks that people can go back through your entire history and find things old you have done wrong to criticize you for these days, but it's not like this was him joking with his buddies 5 years ago, this was him using the n-word on random strangers recently.

wow, did he really take a shot at the FGC at the end of that statement there and try to characterize the whole community based off of a single guy's actions when this controversy is literally the exact same thing (one guy's actions)?

well I'm sure we can expect articles from Kotaku, Giant Bomb, Destructoid, and Penny Arcade Report within the next few days about how the whole Starcraft community is racist, right
