It's hard to describe. If you lay it all out, it probably doesn't sound that exciting -- it's about an hour long, there are no voices, no text, no real characters, no dialogue of any kind; there are no real puzzles to speak of, no enemies to fight; and there are two buttons, one for 'flying / jumping' and one to communicate with the others. But it's an emotional experience unlike any other game I've played. Journey is pretty special. It's hour of isolation, sadness, discovery, and triumph. So I guess 'atmosphere' would be a big reason.

Well, there are glyphs you can find. How much you explore and wander around will add to your time, but I don't think it should have been any longer. An hour to two hours is probably a good length to expect.
