Eh, it's Day 1. I'm going to give it some more time first before making big judgements.

okay so three hours later my buddy just went home, I'll try to post whatever extra thoughts I had:

High health/high damage characters really good in this game. I predict Hugo is gonna be somewhere near the top of the tier list. The other grapplers all seem good too. Especially with the short clock and how fast health regenerates, it just makes them really good.

Chun and Ibuki both seem awful. They die really fast and don't seem to have much upside to make up for that. I think Ibuki is the better of the two.

By the end I had settled into a Ken and Lili team which I was having a lot of fun with. I've never played Tekken, so I have no idea who Lili is. Seems like a cool character though.

The tag system is really interesting. It's the worst thing ever when the other guy just keeps applying pressure and you die with a full character still left over.

Still too many time overs. I think somewhere over a 1/3 of my wins came from time over. Next time we play I'm gonna experiment with just infinite time and see how it goes. I wouldn't do it if this were a defensive game but it seems like it's actually pretty friendly toward offense. it's just that there's not enough time to get all the offense you need.

After playing more I can kinda see what Max was talking about with DPs now. Sometimes they're good as AA but they trade a lot more often than they would in something like SF4. I think this is to encourage jump ins and high offense and I don't really have a problem with it. I wonder what characters have great AA options, if any.

oh I should say also: I like this game. My last post probably seems kind of negative but I was having a good amount of fun. It's definitely not up there on the 3S/CvS2 tier for me but Capcom doesn't really make games with the same things in mind anymore so that's expected. It's the most fun I'd had with a current gen fighter, replacing MK9 in that area.

Rolento's standing medium will beat pretty much any jump in the game, Ogre's Burning Kick and Heihachi's crouching heavy punch are also really good anti airs.

Also from what hackers said Megaman actually has the best uppercut in the game.

poison seems to have great normal AA attacks, too.

cammy's DP is good if you do it early enough, since her active frames are still ridiculous. does a ton of damage, too.
