I recently was learning about Admiral Lord Nelson and was quite impressed. How is he viewed in England? Good? Great? Greatest?

Greatest. London's most famous square, Trafalgar Square, is named after the battle in which he died. And he is in the middle of it, on the top of Nelson's Column. It's a gathering point in times of patriotism or crisis.

Great, he was voted in the top 10 for greatest britons.

#1 was obviously Churchill with IKB coming in 2nd and Lady D in 3rd.

He's certainly regarded higher than Drake or Wellington, but I doubt he's as popular as say John Lennon anymore. Might put him somewhere in the Newton level.
