Apparently there is a comic continuation of Avatar:TLA that I assume is going to lead into Avatar: Legend of Korra. Part 1 came out a month or two ago but I just read it.
*Semi-Spoilers/Comments* The romance component made me want to throw up in my mouth a little bit. The Zuko having a hard time as Firelord reminds me something GRRM said in an interview once. Basically he thought it was wrong for so many fantasy stories to assume that the good guys/main characters will automatically make good kings. Like at the end of LOTR you are supposed to assume that once Aragorn becomes the king everything will be peachy because Aragorn is a cool guy but in truth he may not know jack s*** about being a king. Zuko is what, like 17(?) at the end of the series and he was literally raised by a tyrant. Makes sense that he is indecisive/doesn't really know what he's doing.

He may have spent his first fifteen years raised by Ozai, but he then spent a year with Iroh and a year traveling around, eventually with Aang. He's got experience and perspective enough to, at the very least, have decent moral judgment, even if he has no actual experience at anything except fighting and... well, fighting.

Is this seriously a post? There is literally nothing in his post knocking the Avatar movie, you just have to distinguish it or people automatically assume you are talking about Cameron's movie when you say Avatar. Also lol @ insulting Airbender without knowing what the **** it is.

Anyway, I haven't read any of the comics, but there's another one that has a bunch of side stories of a ton of side characters such as Combustion Man.

I actually don't care about Avatar the children's cartoon series, but I was very, very impressed by the visuals in the Cameron movie. Like, I think it's the best looking movie that's ever been made. If you can convincingly name another movie that is better looking than by all means do, but I can't. It's just so crazy gorgeous.
Do I think it's a great movie? Of course not. Do I think it's a milestone inasmuch as how movies will be made in the future? Sure I do. You'd be an idiot not to think that. And that's why I think it's great.

To be fair, this topic also got like two legit response so apparently b8 doesn't care about Avatar. I guess it's been too long since the series has ended and people have stopped caring. I'm really excited for Legend of Korra though... Which should be coming out like... soon, I hope.
Well they came out with a trailer for it so I assume sometime this year. Maybe around the same time The Last Airbender started? Networks tend to have a hard-on for that kinda stuff.

From third hand sources, I've heard that there being romance in this isn't the issue. It's that Aang and Karkat call eachother sweetie every other line.

Nah, all the romances were awesome except for Aang/Katara
But yeah is this book canon? I'm gonna go with no since it's not written by the actual Avatar guys.

I liked the book. It was a neat continuation of the series, surprisingly dark at times, and left me interested in reading the future volumes to find out how it ends.
The "romance" aspect is unforgivable though, but minor. Aang and Katara only know one pet name, "sweetie", and say it every line they're in the same room together. But I didn't mind it -that- much because every single other character hated it as much as I did and called them out. Worth it for Toph alone, really.

Anyway Cameron's Avatar looks great, but once you get past all the best looking smoke and gorgeous mirrors, it's just Blue Pocahontas 3D.
Not excited for the comic based on its description itt (sweetie, seriously?), but I'm eagerly awaiting Korra.
