Not that it will matter, my vote is for Voldemort. Would have been a better story if he had of defeated Harry though. Nobody would have expected it anyway.
Fairly straightforward match. Harry has more depth and more screentime. I guess Voldemort could be argued as more stylish, but I'm not even that much of a fan of his style. As far as pure style over substance characters, I'd take, say, Tonks or Bellatrix over Voldemort; just personal style preferences.

Poor Voldemort. Poor, poor Voldemort. He is often so misused in fanfiction. One of the problems people have with him is that they either make him non-existent (which is often times Rowling's mistake with him) or make him kind of silly. He is a punchline in a lot of jokes that shouldn't be made. Like in a lot of fanfiction for people to show they don't fear him they will refer to him as, and god I wish I was joking, "moldy shorts." Hey, dumbass fanfic writers, you know how you show they don't fear him? Just have them say the name. It's good enough. It really is. Now mind you a great Voldemort is amazing because at the height of his evil he can make for one of the most cunning, sadistic villains out there and it provides such a wonderful clash with him and Harry. Voldemort is often maligned, it is true, but at the height of his characterization he could go very far in a fanfiction based ranking.
There is, perhaps, one small problem.
He is facing Harry Potter. I won't go into a full rant today, mostly because Harry's work isn't nearly done in this tournament, but Harry Potter is square one, the peak, of my fanfiction rankings. He has such a wide range of characterization that is all amazing that it isn't even close or fair. We have the trickster, the time traveling war hero, the genius kid, the close to canon hero, the overpowered hero, even shades of a dark, twisted soul who is not as light as he can often be.
Today's featured Harry will be from Nonjon, who is a comedy writer and a man who inspired me to start writing humor. In his stories Harry is a smartass who, after kicking voldemort's ass around, decided that life was too short to be stuck being responsible and just had fun with his friends, or more accurately at his friend's expense, whenever possible. This Harry was perhaps one of the most overpowered Harrys within reason I've ever seen but totally framed in a picture of insane glee. It never occurred to me, the reader, how broken he was until the music stopped and a would be dark lord made Harry angry. Then, suddenly, the dark lord was no more and Harry went back to having a good time. Nonjon is a god damn boss.

And I can only imagine how many Harry/Voldy, Snape/Voldy ones there are.
